Grazie all'amico Fonzie alla sua Sony e alla super lente grandangolare, sono riuscita a fotografare la bellissima cupola di San Sebastiano a Milano, di cui ho già postato una foto. Ecco, da wikipedia, uno stralco riassuntivo del progetto e relativa realizzazione della magnifica cupola: L'edificio venne costruito, a spese del Comune di Milano, su impulso di Carlo Borromeo, come ex voto per la fine dell'epidemia di peste che nel 1576 colpì Milano. Il tempio venne edificato nel luogo dove prima sorgeva un'antica chiesetta dedicata a San Tranquillino. L'idea iniziale del Tibaldi era quella di costruire un edificio che richiamasse il Pantheon di Roma. Il progetto originario prevedeva perciò un corpo a pianta circolare scandito da otto arconi, diviso in due ordini e coperto da una grande cupola impostata sulla cornice che concludeva il primo ordine esterno. La suddivisione del primo ordine doveva corrispondere a quella dell'interno, con sull'esterno archi a tutto sesto divisi da doppie lesene e corrispondenti, sull'interno, a otto cappelle tutte di dimensioni uguali, salvo quella centrale, di poco più grande. La parte superiore doveva invece comprendere un tamburo interrotto da finestroni che avrebbe nascosto alla vista dall'esterno la grande cupola. Il progetto del Tibaldi venne realizzato fedelmente per quanto riguarda la parte inferiore dell'edificio, ma per quella superiore si decise di sostituire la cupola e il tiburio inizialmente previsti con una struttura più alta ma dal diametro ridotto rispetto a quello della parte inferiore e raccordata alla parte inferiore tramite piccoli ma spessi contrafforti. Rimase comunque l'abbinamento cupola - tamburo, questa volta, però, con una lanterna più piccola. L'incremento dell'altezza permise di inserire, immediatamente sopra alla divisione fra i due ordini, ampi finestroni, così da migliorare l'illuminazione. Inoltre la cappella centrale venne molto ampliata, in modo da contenere un profondo coro coperto da una cupola secondaria. In questo modo andò perso lo spirito del progetto iniziale e il tempio di trasformò in una chiesa a pianta centrale. Gli affreschi che adornano la cupola furono realizzati da Agostino Comerio sul tema del “Mistero della Redenzione” e completati poi da Lazzaro Pasini. Commenti e critiche sempre molto gradite.
