A composite. The background was added in PP inexpertly. 8-)

I haven't answered the negative comments yet. Because everyone has a different liking naturally. But, the last comment of Bambi is really weird and inculpatory. I haven't say that it is not a montage anytime. And the montage can be done inexpertly. It was my choice to create this atmosphere. But, the cormorant was not in captivity nor injured. It was on a lamp post and approximately 10 meters away from me. If a fishingport is a wild environment, yes it was in wild. It is not very hard to photograph them this closely. And I will share the original noncropped and nonmontaged photo tonight because I'm out now. Please wait several hours.

You didn't even indicate that it was, and I'm sure 90% of those who commented with appreciation didn't catch it.
True that everyone has his own taste, but I believe that when the subject is a living animal being, unconsciously unsaturated a mechanism that brings the image back to nature and to being "normal" and natural what you see. It does not instinctively come to mind that it can be the result of artifice, and many may feel that what they see is reality and should be pursued as an optimum to gain visibility. This potentially leads to the setting aside basic standards of respect for the environment and living beings.

Yes, it is composite. And it is not a wonderful PP. It is obvious I think, if you have an average photographic eye. But now, I'm writing it in the description. Yes, the montaged background is not necessary. But, it is not a photo of news in a newspaper. Necessity in photography? Big question.

I find this proposal really interesting.... handcuffed to the usual canons of naturalistic, background, feathers, quality to the nth power, finally a Lady idea... something new, intriguing and well executed technically ;-)
