Very beautiful for the backlight and the striking golden light. Equally fascinating, like the previous one, for the art of this difficult and challenging fishing. Congratulations, Sergio.

Hello Giovanni, you have grasped precisely the two reasons why I decided to publish both these images, similar, but different: this one for the golden light, the other for the beautiful background, on which the structure of the felucca is drawn.
Thank you very much for the congratulations to photo and caption
Good weekend

It has to be a very hard job where the climate and the environment always puts you to the test. Beautiful backlight and fantastic atmosphere. Congratulations.

Fishing allowed from May to early September, so in good season, in any case it is a strenuous catch that often involves a meager haul. Fishermen, in fact, in addition to the weather or the heat, have to fight with the strong currents of the Strait of Messina, with the other boats passing through, and with the fish. A "body-to-body" fight in which the sword manages to win it.
The stages of sighting, tracking, harpooning and boarding of the fish, are fast, excited. A team game of the whole crew is indispensable. Everyone in his role.
I'm happy for your appreciation of the shot and tradition of this fishing.
Thank you so much for your compliments and your beautiful words to comment.
Hello and good Sunday

Your further clarifications make the caption that accompanies this image even more exhaustive.
Exciting tale, it is sensed that these events were lived by you or, at least, watched very closely.
Good week, Sergio!

Yes Roberto, I love the sea and the activities that affect it.
Every morning, to go to work I skirt the Strait of Messina and I like to watch the fishermen in action.
Thanks again

Hello Fiorenzo, glad you liked this image and glad you had an interest in the various comments. I like to go beyond the photo, I'm glad you have expanded the discourse to traditions that resist over time.
Thank you so much for the compliments and nice comment
