Ore 20.30 circa.. stavo passeggiando nel bosco vicino a casa in cerca di insetti da fotografare, sfruttando gli ultimi attimi di luce della giornata. Stavo rientrando alla macchina quando vedo un bel fiorellino poco distante dal sentiero.. decido di fare un'ultima piccola deviazione, mi avvicino al fiore quando d'un tratto un uccello si alza in volo a pochi metri da me.. mmh.. questo mi è nuovo.. penso d'istinto al misterioso succiacapre.. sarà davvero lui o me lo sono immaginato? Mi guardo intorno.. su un letto di cortecce di pino noto degli strani escrementi.. la mia idea iniziale si rafforza. Torno a casa e, prima di addormentarmi, non faccio altro che pensare alle storie che mio nonno mi raccontava quando ero piccolo.. storie di un uccello vampiro, che attaccava le mucche durante la notte per nutrirsi del loro sangue.. terrore del buio.. la mattina mi sveglio e mi preparo al più presto.. devo andare a controllare, assolutamente.. torno nel luogo della sera prima, guardo su quel letto di cortecce e lui è lì! È davvero lui! Una forte emozione mi pervade, so quanto sia difficile scovare questo uccello ed ora ho la possibilità di fotografarlo.. non mi avvicino troppo, cerco la composizione migliore per far risaltare un soggetto che sta a terra.. una delle situazioni più scomode.. qualche fiorellino violetto mi viene in aiuto.. finalmente scatto! Questo è il risultato.. il mio primo succiacapre.. non lo dimenticherò facilmente.
