Il Duomo di Siracusa sorge nella parte alta dell'isola di Ortigia e si trova sulle antiche fondamenta del tempio dedicato alla dea Atena dai greci-sicilioti nel V secolo a.C. Oltre alle fondamenta di origine greca,va menzionata la splendida facciata tipico esempio di barocco e rococò. L'interno del Duomo è molto semplice,quasi austero,oltre alle evidenti colonne doriche,sono da citare il soffitto a trabeazione lignea,le acquasantiere scolpite in forma di putti,il pavimento di fine Settecento e il presbiterio in stile barocco. Presso la cappella dedicata a Santa Lucia, si trova l'importante simulacro argenteo cinquecentesco della Santa Patrona di Siracusa. Autentico simbolo della città Aretusea,l'edificio religioso fa parte dei patrimoni dell'UNESCO.
