Subjects : landscape,wildlife(snow leopard), culture,religion,snowscape,lakes, life,peaks,brooks,cloudscape,caves. the landscape in this area ranges from 900 mtrs to 5000 mtrs above sea level. spring, winter and monsoon offer all types of color and mood. the air is mostly free of dust. water is crystal clear and snow is pure. there are a number of glaciers around. most of the peaks have passes around them. the passes are gateways to Pangi area and lahaul spiti districts. the snow leopard has often been seen in the high ranges which have ways and trails.
Recommended equipment : spare batteries,wide angle lens,telephoto lens,tripod,camping equipment, tinned food.
Best months : december to february for winter shoot and july to september for monsoon shoots.
How to get there : there are regular flights to new delhi from major airports around the globe. on reaching delhi one can board a luxury bus to chamba or a taxi can be hired. from chamba town either a local bus or a taxi can be taken to tissa which is the headquarter of churah sub division.
Visits : visits are free, the local government has rest houses for a decent stay which also provide food. porters can be hired from here to carry heavy equipment and guides are available. during monsoon one can croos the 4000 mtrs high sach pass to visit the tribal sub division of Pangi from here.
Notes : never travel alone in this area, the wilderness is huge and there is every chance of getting lost. first aid box having medicines for high altitude sickness should be carried.good hiking boots,trekking gear,crampons, ropes are must. local food is available which has to be carried for wilderness depending on the number of days to be spent otherwise porters carry raw material and cooking utensils.
