Hi everybody,
I want upgrade my old lens to canon L series. Now I have canon EF 28-135 is usm and sigma 70-300 dg.
I plan by two this option for full frame body
1.canon EF 24-70 f2.8 L USM , EF 70-200 f2.8 L IS USM.
Or
2.canon EF 24-105 f4 L IS USM , EF 100-400 f4.5-5.6 L IS USM

In 1 l had must sharpness and big aperture and in 2 I had longer focal length
I confused!??

I'd go for 24-105 + 100-400, they are much better than 28-135 and 70-300 and they have a wider range of focal lenghts than the option 1.

If possible, I'd recommend the second version of the 100-400, that is much sharper than the older one - here you can find a comparision:

Hi ,
I see the-digital-picture.com ,compare
100-400 second edition is very good but 24-105 was very bad in sharpens and chromatic fault in corner

My copy of the 24-105 was quite sharp, it has a bit of chromatic aberration but it can be easily removed with software.

I had the 24-70 and sold it for the 24-105. I was never sorry. The loss of one stop was more than compensated for by the additional range. The 24-105 has taken some great pictures when I do my part. It almost never was off my camera.

Also I have liked my 24-105 very much. My copy is quite sharp so I am very satisfied with it.
Here are some shots taken with 24-105 here in Juza.

I have had most of the lenses in the line up and I love 24-105.. also for the money I like the 300f4 better than the 100-400

I can't comment on the 24-70mm, but I had the 24-105mm f4 on a 5d, it was the best general lens I have had, covers so much and does lots of stuff very well

i have the new 100-400 lens and it is so versatile with its close focus under 900mm you can use it to shoot dragonfly and fill the frame and the image stabilization is brilliant here is a review :-P:-P">www.the-digital-picture.com/News/News-Post.aspx?News=17303:-P:fraz

Both options are good, although if you are going for the 70-200 f2.8 LIS II, I would suggest both a 1.4x and 2x TC's to buffer the long end. The 24-70mm f2.8 L II is a very new design and it's an excellent optic. F2.8 does give you several stops more brightness over f5.6 and that's a consideration if you need it.
The 24-105 LIS is quite old and not as amazing as it's newer sibling, but it's still a very capable lens. It's weakest at the 24mm end. I'm sure it'll get a replacement / redesign at some point. But until then...it's currently the most versatile f4 lens. The new 100-400 LIS II is an excellent optic too. I've not seen an IS unit as good as this on any other lens. It's very versatile and mated with a 24-105LIS, is an easy 2 lens set up. There's no bad choices here, just opinions.
I went for the 24-70/70-200 f2.8 route because I needed the brighter option. The 70-200 LIS II takes a 1.4x TC amazingly well and the 2x is ok but not brilliant. It makes the AF a bit sluggish. Still sharp, but it's heavy and the AF can be tricky.

24-105 one of the best lens of canon in range , macro focus , wide angle and portrait shut at 105mm f4 , nice bokeh and only the light flare is not perfect,

24/105 is my favorite lens and its the one I keep on my 5Dii all the time.. I have bought and sold a lot of L lenses but not that one...
