Pros: Quite sharp; beautiful colors and good flare resistance; in principle, a balanced objective; weight and size

Cons: Distortion, price; not tropicalized

Opinion: Used on KP. Goal that I liked enough; sufficiently sharp, good flare resistance and gives a nice star effect by closing a few stops in the diaphragm. He does not suffer from particular abberrations. However, the lens is dated and this makes the lens inferior to other lenses equivalent but more recent than other brands (sigma art type). The price after years remains considerable and even in the used market the lens is not cheap. The distortion is very pronounced and this with subjects placed to third parties can be a problem. Small and light proves very comfortable on the go. Having to give a vote is a 7 out of 10.

Pros: very versatile, good color rendering, crisp.

Cons: Not tropicalized. For my use nothing else considering the characteristics of the focal points.

Opinion: It is the lens that I have been using the most for about a year now in street photography. I do very little architecture, but if necessary it can serve and correct distortion quite easily having the precaution of shooting more or less "in bubble". Just as rarely do I use a natural landscape, and I don't make astro. I mainly focus on 15, 18 and 24 mm as a kind of fixed. I rarely use it at 12 and only in confined spaces where I can't help it. By personal attitude I would have preferred a wider focal excursion upwards than downwards, it would have prevented me from changing it even on occasions that I prefer to use a 35 mm. It is not very bright but I care little using very often more closed diaphragms and with little light... I raise the iso. I don't find it evil even in the resistance to flare especially in the long part. Mandatory (obvious) the use of your own lampshon. It is not as small as size, although it remains more contained in length of 55-300 but a little wider and of more or less equivalent weight (better known lens to give an effective idea). It's pretty easy for me to take it with me, glued to the car and not. A lens that has been out for many years, but that still has a reason. New is now with about 850 euros, perhaps destined to go down even something after the exit of the 11-18 WR. Used it is located on the 400-500 euros and in my opinion it can not be missing in a kit of a photo amateur with a little experience that wants to use those focal ones, compared also to the alternatives that can be proposed for use in street photos. Edit: I add a non-secondary fact for this lens. For those who use an apsc kit and are intent on a possible switch to the FF system, this lens can be used not only in crop mode but also with good results in the 16-24 range starting from a closing stop. It is known that some DA lenses (native to apsc format) can also be used on FF and the lens is partly among them.

Pros: Sharp, versatile, fairly small size, outstanding colors

Cons: It is not tropicalised, it stops at 12mm

Opinion: The optics that I use the most absolute, the focal range adapts perfectly to the landscapes, to the shots of architecture (which do not require a very wide angle) and, with the necessary reserves for the size of the optics, the street photography. It is sharp already at TA, a 12mm blade and with a very tight distortion. You need to pay attention to the drooping lines, but the electronic level of the last Pentax bodies allows you to compose easily while remaining in bubble. Going on longer focal lengths you enter quickly into the world of street: Of course, the optics do not go unnoticed and it is hard not to get noticed, but with a little ' attention and a lot of nerve you can bring home the result. Saturated and vivid colors, some chromatic aberration especially at open apertures, but nothing that does not resolve in post production. As many wide pushed fears side lights (sun, spotlights, street lamps) and in this case generates flare also quite consistent: you need to do a little ' attention. Recommended, is located in the used around 400/500 euros and is worth every penny.

Pros: Constructive accuracy, as usual Pentax; speed and precision MAF, despite the objective being driven by the machine; optical rendering: spectacular for the detail it offers, as well as the colors it knows how to give back: this is a characteristic that I have already noted on all Pentax lenses in my possession and which reaches very high levels in this objective and in 50 macro . The lens is equipped with an excellent lens hood and I have not detected flare or ac phenomena; despite the wide angle of view the distortion appears to be quite correct.

Cons: First of all, the price: considering that it has no internal MAF engine or stabilizer, it is really a bit too high; purchased in store (I prefer to have FOWA warranty, incentivized by the fact that I do not live too far from the office and I can directly bring any defective items) to more than nine hundred euros, I think that the right price should amount to about 100/150 euros less (store price / FOWA guarantee); it is not a WR and this must be taken into account in the use in not optimal weather conditions; the zoom ring offers the right resistance, sweet and fluid, while the ring of MAF could offer an extra bit of resistance but it is still in the average of the AF lenses; while the lens offers high-level performance on almost the entire framed field, yields something to the edges, nothing dramatic but detectable especially at medium high magnifications.

Opinion: Despite some inevitable "against" is really a goal of high / high level, exceptional in the rendering of detail and colors, talche 'the polarizer, if used to enhance the color rendition, it becomes almost useless (still requires a "slim" pola to avoid the risk of vignetting); a goal, obviously, born for landscape and street, not very bright but already good at ta, improving, not very much, using it to diaphragms a bit 'more closed, as is normal with these objectives; as mentioned, the lens gives something to the edges (I will have to check whether it depends on the sample in my possession or is a common feature, perhaps due to the considerable convexity of the front lens) but the thing still seems quite negligible, especially when compared , I repeat, to the overall yield. In conclusion, an excellent and certainly interesting goal for landscape designers and lovers of the "street" that hasits only weak point in the price certainly not popular.rn

Pros: Sharpness, weight, zoom ring, and focus

Cons: I miss the 10mm and the price

Opinion: It's the goal that I use most often for my landscaping exits.rn I like the color rendering and the sharpness it produces.rn I should say I use it for the street with results that I like.rn was more pushed so Towards 10mm would have been the best. It certainly is a goal to own
