Pros: Build quality is just amazing. Ergonomics just superb. Speed per frame not the fastest compared to ML cams but for me, it will do the job and I think for 99% of the people it will! Second hand prices are a no brainer in 2024.

Cons: For me none. But I am old, just as the cams I shoot my stuff with.... ISO settings above 800 will cause significant noise but in B&W I do not consider that a real problem as I shoot in RAW only, so post-processing through DPP4 or Adobe Photoshop7.0 ( or another photo editing program) still can produce some nice pictures.

Opinion: Without repeating myself, in my opinion this is one of the best cameras Canon has ever produced. The build quality, ergonomics and especially the color reproduction are top class. Just look at the photos taken here in the 40D section. Maybe my eyes are getting to old for pixel peeping, but personally I don't see much difference between shots taken with a 5D FF or a 40D at "normal" magnification. For a beginner who is just starting to learn how to take photos with a DSLR (perhaps outdated in a few years), an absolute bargain these days. Just buy a 2nd hand 40d between €50 - €100, an EF-s 24mm and/or an EF 50mm 1.8 STM and you're good to go! In short... seasoned photographer don't sell your 40d! In short...beginner photographer...just buy a 40d, it won't dissappoint you! Just scroll below to see the magnificent photo's!!

Pros: Monolithic body, affordable cost, perfect for learning.

Cons: Sensor dated and yield at high ISO.

Opinion: It is an extraordinary camera: used socket for less than 100 euros with 3k shots, it returns in the hand a solidity of a true professional. Excellent ergonomics - I have quite large hands - each key is in the right place and easy to reach. Sufficiently customizable in the various menu settings. Excellent burst, the autofocus is not at the level of the most modern, except for the excellent central point. The sensor is now old, but I don't find it obsolete. Magnificent photos were obtained with this sensor, it is still extremely valid. Also for this reason I think it is perfect to learn: you can not recover errors in postproduction, but correctly exposing the photos produced are exceptional. The files are really good and light. For the price at which you can find today, you can not ask for more.

Pros: A lot of substance at a bargain price

Cons: Considering the price and age.. nobody

Opinion: He has his years.. but for those looking for a camera to take pictures without so many mental pipes it is still incredibly good. I took it used with 15k shots at 99 € (with original box, 3 batteries and 16gb cf). I directly matched the 50mm f 1.8. What can I say? It makes you feel like a photographer. In the hand it conveys a sense of incredible solidity.. from a professional object. The operational speed and with which it responds to the comendi makes it seem current and you do not think in the least about age. With the fixed 50ino pulls out shots to be amazed. I didn't take it because I needed it.. but at that price it was a crime to give it up

Pros: Great ergonomics, great rows, price, burst

Cons: nobody

Opinion: He borrowed for a few shots, having it in his family. At the time this was a body that had to say, especially in naturalistic, the 6.5fps were completely adequate, the megapixels were certainly few compared to modern machines, but right for the period, maybe the 15 of the 50 were more a correct. As a high-iso estate it does not work miracles, better not to go beyond 800/1600. Overall now to start it is great, it can give satisfaction, in addition the files are very light and easy to manage in post production, they also guarantee excellent colors.

Pros: ROBUST RELIABLE EXCELLENT CONSTRUCTION

Cons: Nothing for age when compared to more modern Liveview SLRs and 10 Mpixel and ISO content

Opinion: Bought new in 2007 and I find it to be a reflex similar for construction to the eos 5 series although not really tropicalized but excellent and robust construction. I in landscape photos use it at iso 100 on tripod and you get great files in both jpeg and raw. With the batterygrip it improves grip even with heavy optics. It has been used for many years and I will keep it again because it is a very valid SLR to this day. I also have a Canon eos 10d, an eos 20d and an eos 30d and I have to say that this is even better.
