Pros: Weight, price, focal length

Cons: Exaggerated chromatic aberrations in many conditions, detail at the edges even with a really poor aperture, at TA ridiculous, poor sharpness even in the center, impossible to focus at TA when using at minimum focal length

Opinion: Lens bought many years ago to equip my old Canon 40D as an alternative to the 18-55. Taken used in excellent condition, it immediately proved to be the perfect companion for any photographic outing due to its focal length (obviously on the RIGHT) and weighs relatively little. In addition to what was said before, unfortunately it is a really poorly made lens, poor detail even with a lot of aperture, sharpness equal to the worst 18-55 existing (try it to believe it), it made me throw away a lot of shots as it suffers a lot from chromatic aberrations, in some cases absolutely irretrievable. It also suffers from flare but here it is partly justified. If you use it towards sunset, however, the situation improves a little. At night with some high-performance DX body that holds high ISO well then it is good for some "starry" and various startrails, but it is not a bright lens. Excellent for starting to shoot and spending little and having something vaguely better and wider-angle than the kit lens, but otherwise I strongly advise against it. My specimen, on New Year's Eve 2018, while I was doing a nice night to the stars and fireworks, after a gust of wind flew to the ground, broke both in front (the plastic ring) and also the focus ring and also the autofocus, in short today I keep it as a souvenir and as a paperweight, a task that it performs absolutely better than what it was born for.

Pros: Cost of used, focal range, sharpness in the center

Cons: sharpness at the edges

Opinion: I used it successfully for a long time on various Sony APS-C with A mount, until one day it stopped working properly (an "autopsy" revealed that one of the gears of the focusing system had broken, unfortunately made of pure plastic evidently of not excellent quality). What can I say, it has a focal range for me perfect for architectural photos (equivalent to 15-30 on FF) with excellent sharpness in the center. Less positive but acceptable distortion, quite present and vignetting. On the other hand, the sharpness at the edges is poor, even if the diaphragm is very much, but these are things that are only seen on the monitor, printing at reasonable sizes is more than acceptable. Recommended nowadays if you find it used at a good price.

Pros: Great focus, good sharpness in the middle, price, overall image quality

Cons: Opening, sharpening (especially at the edges)

Opinion: I have owned this lens for several years, and for the price it costs in my opinion it is a good deal. You can't expect much though, especially when used in TA, which is often insufficient and forces you to close the diaphragm and use an easel. Of course, compared to a fixed there is no history, but I consider it quite lacking in sharpness. Good flare resistance and little weight and footprint. The focus and the presence of the door for distances is also good. All in all his work does it, and almost always the photos made with him satisfied me!

Pros: Value for money, weight and size, perfect focal range.

Cons: Bad quality at the edges

Opinion: Good lens wide angle right, clear in the middle but loses a lot at the edges. Little bright for astrophotography.rnMuse used in travel as the focal allows to exploit it in more situations than other lenses of the same segment.rnLeggero and of small size, I recommend the purchase if found at a good price.

Pros: Price, Focal, filters availability, construction.

Cons: front cap and dust inside.

Opinion: I bought it used by a friend who left me on trial for this month. At first I hated it, I did not understand it, but I did not understand many things of photography in general.rnMi is obliged to use it and now that I know it well gives me photos that I can publish here. In the meantime, it should be filtered and from the best of itself after f9, for landscapes and architecture, if you then put on a tripod then it becomes exceptional. My sample was without a hood and I bought an aluminum for a wide angle but I vignette up to 13mm so I usually do not use it. I took a polarized filter, an ND and a UV. My specimen has some dust inside the lens that I would never dare to open, but I do not have problems in the pictures so that's okay.
