Pros: Sharpness, weight, cost.

Cons: Construction.

Opinion: I was looking for a good wide angle to flank the Sony 24-104 F4 on the Sony 7RII, the tarmon did not disappoint my expectations. It is a relatively light lens, well balanced on an ML, with a range of focal lengths perfect for landscape/street photography and reportage use. The lens has a good central sharpness at full aperture, improves at the edges reaching a peak between f5.6 and 8 (aperture that I use most for landscapes). Discreet resistance to flare and backlight. Compared to more "pushed" wide angles (e.g. 12-24/14-24) the possibility of mounting screw filters with a diameter of 67mm is a plus to be taken into account. The only negative aspect concerns the construction, the lens if on the one hand is very light, on the other it seems to be made of rather cheap materials. Surely there will be better wide angles, but considering the combination of price, weight, dimensions and performance, the Tamron can be a winning choice.

Pros: closed global yield of one stop, seal against light, weight, overall dimensions

Cons: distortion, materials?

Opinion: Basically an excellent compromise for these focal lengths, the lens must be closed at f4 to have a more uniform center edge rendering and with less astigmatism at the edges, from 5.6 to f11 I think it is simply excellent; hold against light really good as control of the ac, global yield I would say excellent, fast af even on a7 II and more than good even on an old woman like the a7s; negative notes the obvious dystrosion at 17mm which is still corrected in the room or lens profile in post.

Pros: Compact, impressive optical quality, lightweight, apsc lens price

Cons: cheap materials, focal excursion maybe a little curtain

Opinion: It's absurd how a lens is sometimes snubbed and underestimated... even when this lens came out I was a little skeptical but then I started to see a lot of evidence and reviews on the web all very positive and so I decided to buy it ... I think I made a very good move as this 17-28 has a really amazing optical quality and having also had the 16-35 gmaster in the past, I can confirm that optically (especially at the edges), this tamron is much higher ... certainly does not have the goodies and the construction of the gmaster, cmq turns out to be weather resistant and then it is of extraordinary compactness, it looks like a lens for apsc, excellent for traveling because it is also very light. Another pro is definitely the very low purchase price!!! In short, I am satisfied with the choice I made and if it had had a range of focal points like 16-30, it would have been perfect! Good Tamron!

Pros: It also sharpens with 43mpx sensor, incredible resistance to backlight flares, feather weight for lens type, well balanced on the A7xxx series, 67mm filter diameter, competitive price.

Cons: By-wire ring for focus (if used for astrophotography requires a correct search for fire), the plastic of the barrel in my opinion is delicate and subject to smears, the lens correction profile from what I see is still fugitive.

Opinion: A lens often used for video, but in my case I find it perfect in landscape photography, mounted on A7RII I do not see any particular sharpness drops in the focal points I use frequently, from 17mm to 24mm, I find it splendid between F3.2 and F5.6, without removing it in full-aperture shots. I was undecided for a long time between this lens and the excellent Sony 20mm 1.8, but I gave priority to the greater flexibility of the Tamron rather than the brightness of the Sony. Personal opinion, compared to the Sony the Tamron is a step above for resistance to flares and a step below for homogeneity of the blurry in the case of artistic photos with close subject. I am very satisfied with the purchase.

Pros: Sharpness, contrast, backlight resistance, color neutral yield, AF, contained and still easily correctable distortion, ghetto fluidity, internal zoom travel, tropicalization, compactness and lightness, 67mm filters

Cons: Lack of physical keys, relative lack of stabilization, tropicalization(?)

Opinion: Top-notch image quality for this bright wide-angle zoom, always crisp even at TA and from the center to the most extreme angles, especially at intermediate diaphragms. It has a fairly neutral rendering of colors and excellent contrast, the merit of which would go to the incredible anti-glare treatment that makes a flare practically impossible even in extreme backlights. The distortion is there but it is not a problem, being light and normal for a wide-angle zoom, barrel at the minimum focal and bearing at maximum, still correctable in the car apparently without losing field angle (perhaps inertia). Pleasant to use thanks to low weight and size and long and fluid rings (perhaps too thin that of the MAF). AF good for a wide angle and quiet. You feel, personally, the lack of a physical key, but not stabilization if you use a body with sensor that is equipped with it. Good for nocturnal and starry, given the absence of chromatic aberrations, with perhaps the presence of light coma (but for niche genres, I think more specialized optics should be used and I am not able to review in this field). Tropicalized lens but that let in the body and end up on the sensor a grain of huge dust despite being grafted and used for days (honestly I wouldn't test it in particularly adverse weather conditions). The focal range covers the three most wide-angled (20-24-28) with the ultragrandangular just below 18mm, allowing ample margin in composition and having proved comfortable and versatile (a wider range would have compromised compactness and optical quality, and with the new compact fixes available for Sony for more extreme focals, it would have been superfluous). The absence of the distance scale is not a problem on mirrorless bodies. The materials are plastic, but of good quality. Overall, therefore, it is a lens of the highest level and in my opinion of good value for money. Not perfect at all, but almost, depending on its placement range.

Pros: Pretty much all sharp, sharp, light, bright, fast and quiet.

Cons: A little barrel but adjustable

Opinion: Bought with the sony 6600 churns out deadly photos I am a amateur photo practically since I was 10 years old with my grandfather photographer told me only buys things that you need and good was right, not a better choice but and a choice at 50%, I do not put it in the ranking with sony G master but basically I'm just a photo amateur for 47 years for me the 17-28-f2.8 goes well and makes beautiful photos and beautiful photos and beautiful photos , I use it with both the 6600 sony and the sony A7III, in Iceland we have to make many photos then fill my catalog shortly.

Pros: Lightness, brightness

Cons: Focal excursion

Opinion: I recently purchased this technological wonder, so I reserve to update the review later. I make a premise I come from the wonderful tokina 11-20 F2.8, and I needed something to replace it on full frame. Immediately excluding the zeiss 16-35 f4 because of the low light, which I consider fundamental since I am passionate about photos in the milky way, and also the sony GM that costs a disproportionate (I do not see how justifiable it is to spend twice to have practically indistinguishable photos), my choice immediately fell on this little jewel. Let's start with the construction, the lens is entirely of good quality plastic, you will need to test the resistance to scratches over time. The lens carries a lampshade, it has the ability to zoom internally like my old Tokina (which was, however, a cartormato). There is no button for the auto/manual focus switch, which is totally negligible due to the fact that all modern ml have the ability to change this setting internally (personally I have it on the joystick). The lens comes out without stabilizer, which is not the best for videos, but it is absolutely not a problem for photographs (with 1/30 you are abundantly safe on 24 Mpx - 1/60 maybe for 42 Mpx), having a stabilized body useless say it, helps. The lens is resistant to dust and splashes, with dials everywhere, other interesting plus. The lens has a fluorine coating, it is a high-end feature, which makes it easy to clean the front lens. What really makes the difference however beyond the undoubted optical quality, is to have a lens that together with the machine body has a weight equal to half of a reflex with 16 35 2.8. Believe me, I have no other words to call it if not monstrous. Finally the pleasure of taking photography. Speaking of the hike, I went from a 17.6-32 to a 17-28. What to say considering that the bulk of the photos you will make at 17, an interesting gain, at 28 you can barely make some scenes set approaching the subject, but nothing more. This is the price to pay for having a 400gram lens. I intentionally decided not to talk about optical quality, because as you can imagine any lens born in 2019, and costing 1000 euros, can only be simply glorious, especially if we talk about full frame from "only" 24 megapixels. Interesting elements to consider, thanks to a rather simple construction, and good interior coatings the lens resists the flare very well. I could not appreciate the bokeh adequately (which seems to be the weak point of 28-75), because it produces very little, and in any case it must be forced to approach the subject obtaining often unreal proportions. From the point of view of the maf is comparable, but not as a sony lens (it will be because tamron sees sony as its main shareholder) let's say that if a sony lens makes 10/10, this will make 9/10. The lens wonderfully supports the eye af. The focus ring, it's focus-by-wire, so you won't act directly on the fire, I reserve to make a judgment on its usability. For now, it has seemed no less than classical, although it is a further complication, necessary for modern fire systems. Last element, the sony supports correcting distortion, aberrations and in-room vignettes for jpegs, while lightroom (what a shame) still does not have the lens profile available (but the one present in the raw is recognized). Having said that, I can only recommend the product, in addition if you buy a polyphoto product (Italian) you can have the extension of the guarantee by registering it on the site. I can't wait to travel there for a while!

Pros: Relative lightness; average price

Cons: barrel distortion

Opinion: I recently bought the lens and I still have to get my hand up; I agree on sharpness; I noticed in the photos in the city a high distortion of the image at the edges, "barrel", which force me to a correction in significant post production. I expected it a little, but it seems excessive. Some published photos show her, some don't, but I'm afraid they're a little cropped. For now, I do not make definitive judgments, but I ask those who have been using it for a long time to have their opinion. I have a Sony 7 III and with the Tamron 28-75 it goes very well.

Pros: Size and weight, filterable (Common filters with 28-75 2.8 from 67mm), center/edge sharpness also at TA, resistance to Flare

Cons: Limited range, Non-TOP materials, lack of distance scale

Opinion: Used on both a7III and A7RII, I was amazed by the sharpness center/edges even at 2.8 I also had the 16-35 F/4 zeiss and this is best in everything except for the more limited focal points. Compared to a fixer like the Zeiss Distagon 21mm 2.8 and the Zeiss Loxia 2.8 it is difficult to understand with which lens the photo was taken and this I never expected (Cromie apart) on 42Mpixel at the extreme edges some small difference in sharpness is barely noticeable on the 24 absolutely not. Maximum sharpness between F/5.6 and F/8 is great anyway up to F/11. Light and portable in combos with the 28-75 offers quality and lightness at the same time, excellent combined with the A7. At night it behaves great so absolutely recommended for this purpose, well controlled coma and vignette and a rather uniform yield at 2.8. Lens above expectations with excellent value for money, sure it had started from 16 mm would have been stratospheric but you are satisfied!

Pros: Lightness and compactness, excellent position of the focus dial,AF fast and quiet, sharp and exceptional flare resistance, filters from 68 compatible with the older brother 28-75, tropicalized

Cons: Nothing to report

Opinion: I've been waiting for a Wide f2.8 different from Sony's 16-35 GM, especially lighter and less expensive, when tamron's 17-28 f2.8 pops up on the shelves with surprise. Used to shoot with the Batis 18 and tired and tired of changing often lens especially when Traveling this zummetto has solved me many problems of weight and portability spaces. Lens that lends itself to both Landscape and street, is sharp and also defends very well in the corners, we are talking about a zoom Wide all do. It has a crazy flare resistance, which is not negligible for those who photograph panoramas. I found the position of the focus dial very comfortable and Got used to it after three or four outings. Light color aberration distortion, all easily manageable with software. It's hard to say where it's best because it's good from 17mm to 28mm from f2.8 to f11 without much pretension, although I prefer it to 17mm. It falls into the range of lenses for evolved amateur photos that has nothing to envy to the most emblazoned but more expensive zooms of Sony's house. Combined with the older brother 28-75 you have a killer combination of travel where you take away lightness and quality to sell as well as having the compatible filter graft diameter between the two 68mm. The sturdy plastic body does not make you feel the lack of metal. The lens is tropicalized the trigger on the bayonet is precise. The AF is quiet and fast native Sony, it performs very well even with poor light. Zoom inside, already does not stretch remains small from 17 to 28mm Some reviews say it goes better on sensors from 24mpx, but at the moment tests there are none, I use it with great satisfaction on a Sony A7RIII. Recommended for those who do not want to spend figures above 2k and to those who want a high quality everything kit without fixed.
