tamron_24-70_f2-8vcTamron 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD

Pros: Construction, focal range

Cons: everything else

Opinion: I've been following this lens for a long time, since it was immediately talked about very well. For the first time, Tamron would have gone one step further and produced a lens that was not only a replicant of inferior quality from well-known houses, but an optic that lives a life of its own, with all the trappings to be up to the most famous of this range. That may be the case, but I haven't found any of that. In a nutshell: the lens is not bad at all in optimal light conditions, it is completely lost when you have to ask it for something more, which, invariably, it does not give you. The edges are very mixed at any opening, and the unusable space is huge, not only the edges. At 24mm it distorts irretrievably in post, the stabilizer is intrusive and creates quite a few problems when shooting. In short, a great disappointment, which I will get rid of soon, to play it safe with mom Canon.

canon_efs_17-55_f2-8Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM

Pros: Aperture, price

Cons: No FF, construction, no flare resistance, in my case poor sharpness

Opinion: In general it is a very good lens that, of course, cannot be compared to the various 18-35 or 18-135. Plastic construction but sturdy and pleasant, even if not tropicalized, and unfortunately yes it melts very soon, opening downwards with nothing. It is clear that its strong point is the fixed 2.8 at all focal lengths, which also gives a discreet blur, soft and enveloping. To upgrade is undoubtedly a great investment, but you shouldn't expect the sharpness and definition of the more emblazoned, and expensive, L-series. At least the specimen I have, doesn't define the details, at any aperture, least of all at TA. If you're forced to shoot and have to let in some sunshine, the flare will kill you. Also, being only for APSC I found it a bit limiting. In any case, at the price you find today, it is a good compromise and an excellent investment for your photographic growth, especially since it is a widely used focal length range.

canon_85_f1-8Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM

Pros: Price, sharpness, AF, size

Cons: Nothing

Opinion: Taken used, I have been using it for several months. I also realized services of events not simple as to available light. He has always behaved well. Fast in hooking the subject, precise and silent. Sharp images even at TA, from 2.8 onwards (aperture I use more often) is a blade. It solves very well even on dated sensors type 5d MK2, what can I say? At the price at which you can find today and for the focal length that it is, it is an absolute must have.

canon_5d2Canon 5D Mark II

Pros: Solidity, reliability, colors and paste of the files.

Cons: Nothing

Opinion: First FF I bought. Still used today with extreme satisfaction. I read that it is very suitable for amateur photographers but, obviously, a professional needs more. Maybe it will surprise you but I work there and feed the family even today. What should a professional want? A device that takes pictures for him? In this case, the MMs so dear to everyone are fine. Don't get me wrong, technology takes its course and I believe that very soon even MM will give way to another system, it is inevitable. But when I frame what I want to shoot with this old lady, I have to give depth to my knowledge of photography and she gives me rows with a lively and enveloping paste, nothing that can be achieved with today's hyper admirable robots. Of course, if you do not know how to expose and do not know the basic rules of photography, the 5d mk2 does not forgive you and your photos will not satisfy you. Last note: having an eye on spending is another characteristic of the professional and not only of the amateur photographer. Today more than ever, after the blow taken with COVID the old adage little spending so much yield is more valid than ever. And, in my humble opinion, this machine has a lot to do with it.
