nikon_afp70-300vrNikon AF-P DX 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G VR

Pros: Cost especially if import, weight, definition, autofocus

Cons: a little dark to the focal max, not fully supported with the d7200, not supplied lampshade, poor quality rear cap (white plastic)

Opinion: Tried today for the first time on nikon d7200, I decided to write with a bang what are my first impressions because they went far beyond me my most rosy expectations. I am not a pro but simply a photography enthusiast and, coming from the 55-300 dx, I noticed clearly the step forward of the optical rendering, especially at the maximum focal point. With the previous zoom the definition waned from 250mm onwards, to the point of limiting myself to the full use of the telephoto lens. With this new version the definition is also excellent at 300mm, especially closing at f8, but also remaining at the maximum opening the results are definitely good. I also like contrast and colors, then the autofocus has improved a lot and the overall feeling is that you have made a clear step forward on all fronts. Although Nikon has not yet (and who knows if it will ever) updated the firmware of the d7200, to disable via autofocus and vr menu, I did not ask myself the problem and I bought it anyway, sure of the fact that I would never give up even one of the two options. In fact with the previous 55-300 dx I had this possibility via comfortable switches on the lens, but I never used it. It is also true that I never needed to use the easel with this lens. I dare not imagine how convenient the version for fx can be since already this is really super. For me promoted with flying colors also for stabilization that seems to be more effective and solves more the problem of micromovement. It is likely that the final yield is due to a winning combination derived from a simpler design, better glass quality and a more effective vr. I want to point out that the tests I did with a third-party lampshade, taken on amazon at a paltry cost, because unfortunately the accessory is not included in the initial equipment and that the main use was aimed at portraits and glimpses of landscapes.
