Reviews of cameras, lenses, tripods, heads and other accessories written by Natino

panasonic_lumix_lx100iiPanasonic Lumix LX100 II

Pros: M43 quality in a compact body, bright and quality optics, nice files, 4k for those who also make some videos (like me)

Cons: battery life, flash (read later), dirt on the sensor (but I haven't had the problem yet!)

Opinion: Taken, I took a trip abroad and I have to say: fantastic! The files are excellent, with a very good hold (for a compact) even at medium/high iso. The m43 sensor helps! Quality and feel to love right away! There are no dials for the PASM but you have to move around by adjusting the apertures/shutter speeds. Beautiful! I like it very much. Looking at the reviews already present I realize that I will not write anything new. So I'll tell you a gem of my own. The stock flash is "really modest". NG7. Fixed head. I looked online, and I realized that the Olympus FL-LM3 flash (NG9, articulated head) is perfectly compatible with a small trick (it is a matter of removing a small piece of flange, 1mm of protrusion that does not fit all the way on the flash shoe of the LX100/LX100 II). Sold the Panasonic flash, bought the Olympus one (in the end I spent a difference of about thirty euros). Result: now I have the self-powered flash from the camera, perfectly compatible (the Olympus is compatible with the m4/3), articulated head, and NG 9 instead of 7! That's great. I suggest everyone to do it (if you happen to find the Olympus flash at a "fair" price, new one costs 80 Eurozzi!). Back to the camera: passed with flying colors!

sony_24-240ossSony FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS

Pros: I repeat a bit what everyone writes: 10x zoom unique in the Sony FE panorama (or even other brands for sony FE), size, weight, fast AF, effective stabilization

Cons: The only thing I sometimes regret is the typical button on the lens that when you set on Sony bodies.. It becomes a habit.

sony_a7Sony A7

Pros: lightness, file quality, rendered by FF

Cons: AF speed and battery life

Opinion: Taken out of curiosity and to understand how it goes after 9 years an FF with the electronics of 2013 (paid just over 400 euros used! As much as a compact). I must say that I am pleasantly surprised. I make a premise to clear the field of misunderstandings: do not look at the speed of the AF and the duration of the batteries because they are inadequate (but two more batteries are kept in your pocket and you do not even notice) compared to the current A7 III and A7RIII! Let's move on to the rest: it weighs as much as a compact and clutters as much as an APSC! Accept all the manual optics you can think of! Hilarious! The quality of jpeg and RAW is very good! Compared to the A7III and A7RIII it obviously has less dynamic range and more noise, let's be clear! Up to 640 ISO in terms of noise, however, it is practically equivalent to the A7III (approximately), above 800 ISO the difference is seen (about 1 stop of noise more). at 12800 ISO the gap is very very significant. But this can be read almost everywhere, so no surprises. I read that the jpeg is not much... I do not know! The RAW allows more freedom of pp (of course) but the jpeg I find it very usable (just play a little with the settings on sharpness contrast etc ..)! Used with manual optics is spectacular (the assistant at maf is great!). About the autofocus: with fairly fast optics (200-600; 100-400GM etc .. is "acceptable"; the 50/1.8 is really slow (but it is slow regardless). In general to make portraits and street is fine, completely forget about moving animals and things that move quickly. I will keep it for a few more weeks/ months... then I will have completed the test and move on to something else. But I must say that I did not imagine so much yield with such a shopping pose! Ah.. just one clarification: the dimensions are toy! Wonderful little toy. PS: video only in FullHD, no 4K... !

sony_zeiss24-70_f4Sony FE 24-70mm f/4 ZA OSS Vario Tessar T*

Pros: Colors and weight, and let's put AF speed as well

Cons: Optically insufficient (sharpness practically at a minimum)

Opinion: Tried for a day on A7RIII. I'll be ruthless: if you've had the opportunity to try zeiss optics... this has nothing to do with it! Sharpness is always very unsatisfactory. For heaven's sake... Light optics, nice feeling, very good construction, precise and fast focus ring (depends on how quickly you move it). But then.. you go home, look at the photos, and regret having made them with that lens. Always soft, never engraved and sharp. You save the colors. Which are very pleasant. But woe to look at the photo 100%. In short... a disappointment. It's not a question of cost... and you don't have to compare it to the GM to say it's not sharp. There's simply a lot better in that same price range. Personally I do not recommend it! After trying it (attracted by size and weight) I kept away from it. If you shoot in jpg it goes slightly (but little) better thanks to the corrections in the room. But still nolto below expectations. PS: I reserve the right to update the review after trying another one (when it happens). I would not like to have found a "bugged" (i.e. defective) specimen. But for the test I did with the specimen in my possession I was already generous! In fact, I am amazed by the positive reviews made by other users on Juza... anyway in one way or another I have to take a few hundred more shots with another specimen.

dji_mavic_mini2DJI Mini 2

Pros: 4k, no need for a license. Autonomy. Silence. Handiness. Weight and transportability.

Cons: Well... many certainly. Missing the follow me, missing the sensors, video sector not comparable to other drones (although I must say absolutely adequate for amateur use), video with little light that manifests grain to go go ..

Opinion: Given that I have the license (both A1 / A3 and A2) and that I have tried various drones .. I must say that for the use that I make of it (simple amateur passionate about photos and videos, without professional pretensions) is in the end what I prefer .. In the other reviews there is already written everything. The only thing I notice is the tendency to turn to green in the shots that are made on the sea. The water looks green even if blue (it easily corrects itself in pp). Returning to the drone: I add something that I find very important. He carries himself around for a whole day on vacation without feeling the discomfort of weight. I took a handbag that houses all the contents of the Fly More combo version and... I didn't hear I did the same with another DJI (phantom 4) and after a couple of hours I regretted having the backpack with the drone with me. It's the reason why I don't take it off in the end. Sure... the 1-inch sensor is something else (but it is only noticeable with very little light!) ... but better a video made even if with a grain of grain than a video that I would have made if I had had the drone with me ..

samyang_af85_f1-4feSamyang AF 85mm f/1.4 FE/RF

Pros: Simply amazing: bokeh, lightning AF, colors, sharpness, contrast. Overall quality.

Cons: nothing to report, maybe a little clutter but you can't expect to have a featherweight. Don't miss the quality of the materials you "feel" with Sony GM... but you can't ask for everything!

Opinion: What about... spend 1/3 of the Sony FE 85mm f/1.4 GM, but in the end you don't lose anything! I have long been undecided whether to take the Samyang 85/1.4 or (at the same price or almost) the Sony 85/1.8 or jump to the 85/1.4 GM. And i finally got it after seeing a couple of reviews online.... even though I was wary. After the first half hour, I fell in love with it. It's just a show! The AF is lightning fast, allows you not to regret the GM and never misses a beat (even in the pursuit of the subject). The colours are even more pleasing than Sony lenses: slightly canon-like, just warmer and more balanced than Sony lenses. The construction is (almost) professional lens. It weighs a little but doesn't make you regret even one of the grams that weighs. Let's understand: it still weighs much less than the 85/1.4 GM, but a little more than the Sony 85/1.8. Excellent sharpness already at TA. Obviously at f/2 it increases but at 1.4 it is still excellent! I use it on the A7R III (which is demanding!) and on the A9. I'm upset about that. About the bokeh: superb! I really like it. The only thing that really wants to be picky you have to say is that it does not return that feeling of "pro" optics that you can perceive with Sony GM optics. But let's remember that it costs 1/3. In short: if you want an 85/1.4 you can think of Samyang without having doubts about the characteristics and yield. The comparison with the Sigma does not hold: IT WEIGHS AND COSTS TWICE AS MUCH! The weight of an optics is one of the things I look at: transposrability depends on it and therefore the use that can be made of it.

canon_g7x_iiiCanon G7 X Mark III

Pros: Light. Proper focal excursion and slow of good brightness. Great stabilization. Great overall performance. 4k videos well stabilized (and without crop). 30 fps in raw burst mode.

Cons: lacks the crosshairs, dynamic range that can be improved. More video-oriented than photo-oriented (which I write in the cons even if it's an advantage for me).

Opinion: taken by very little. Immediately put to the test. I fell in love with it. In 300gr you have everything you need. In full light it does not even regret mirrorless. Obviously with little light... The 1-inch sensor doesn't hold up the pace of apsc or FF (I know... and a comparison that I shouldn't even make.) But the overall judgment is absolutely excellent. I believe that for those who want to travel light without giving up the pleasure of photographing is one of the best choices. Of course the scope is missing... but rjpeto: it's a matter of compromise. Surprising the operational speed of the machine. Spectacular!

nikon_70-300vrNikon AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G ED VR

Pros: Good for full frame, low cost, good overall yield

Cons: none for the price range

Opinion: What about... I read reviews that I don't understand. 1. Also suitable for full frame! 2. Costs (used) 250 euros... 3. There are no other zooms in this price range with VR 4. ridiculous to compare it with optics that cost 5 times more 5. at 300 mm is quite sharp, just close to f/8 6. good bokeh, you just have to know how to use the distances between subject and background 7. I have it and I keep it!...

canon_fd200_f2-8sscCanon FD 200mm f/2.8 SSC

Pros: Solid. Nice. Vintage flavor. Very nice color rendering. Great overall sharpness.

Cons: Pesantuccio (700 gr or so, less than the modern autofocus stabilized fixtures anyway)? Various limitations compared to current lenses (AF, IS, microcontrast... etc)... But... I care!.

Opinion: Taken on a stall at a market. Perfect and clean lenses. Paid about a hundred. I didn't know if it was a high or low price... but I liked it and it was optically perfect. So: taken. Just home I mounted it on the A7III... (I have pretty much any vintage adapter at FE) and go. a few dozen shots. First impressions were great. By the way, I liked the feeling of fluidity of the sealing. Very pleasant. Photo result: greatooo! I was amazed by the quality. The images are engraved and sharp. Great chromatic rendering. Good contrast. I'll update the review shortly after testing it a little more on the field. I know I'm not going to make a big use of it. but the pleasure of trying it is priceless :) Let's be clear: I do not deliberately compare with the native sonys... I don't care. I like to use it for what it is. I like the idea of reviving him and coming back to have his own existence. I like to see the manual fire assistant telling you: shoot. And then bring home some "made" photos from me and not from the camera electronics. Mica little!!!! ps.: if you are 20 years old and you have never tried to shoot with a vintage optics. Well... hurry because you discover a world that you haven't yet known and that you might fall in love with (it also applies to those who are 30 or 40 or 50 years old, let's be clear)

nikon_50f1-4aisNikon 50mm f/1.4 Ai-s

Pros: Old-fashioned optics, sturdy, beautiful. Solid. Great from f/2 up

Cons: A f/1.4 I find it inuable !

Opinion: What about... Had. Sold. Bought back. Resold. Personal opinion: Unfortunately at TA I find it too soft and with a bokeh a little kneaded and nervous. almost swirly. From f/2 up it gets great. But then it would be worth taking the 50/1.8. Unfortunately I was not excited about digital (I used it on Fuji XH1 and various other fuji bodies). I'm going to take it back to try it on Sony A7 III. But if I were to cast my vote for my own experience (unless my specimen was defective) it would not exceed 7. Both the first and second lenses tested. I will update the review as soon as I find it and try it on A7.

panasonic_leica100-400oisPanasonic Leica 100-400mm f/4.0-6.3 ASPH OIS

Pros: close-up focus, size footprints and weight. Bokeh, sharpness

Cons: to want to fill the field (i.e. to want to write something about the "CONTRO") you can say that f/6.3 to 400mm is not the maximum, but two paradises you can not have!

Opinion: Ggiornamento after 1 month of use: I confirm the first extraordinary impressions: on the Panasonic G9 is perfectly balanced and the bracket for the tripod decouples the optical/body system with a screw that unlives in an instant. The quality is at the highest level, returning a feeling of pleasant robustness. The size and weight are half the size of the equivalent optics on FF (of equal brightness). Excellent sharpness, excellent I would say also at the maximum focal (cala slightly but remains excellent). Being able to focus at distances of just over 1 meter with the 400mm (800mm equivalent) is very useful. The only thing that upsets me little is the zoom dial... slightly duretta (obviously with zoom selector unlocked) but not as much as you read around. Maybe using it improves (CONFERMO!). The stabilization coupled with the G9 leaves you speechless: 800mm eq to 1/60 sec with no choppy effect I consider it a result to be blown away! The micromove? Maybe there's a hair... but we're talking about 5stop! 1/250 is no longer a trace. The AF is lightning fast! What to say: wonder of optical engineering and electronics fused together to return excellent results! The sharpness at 400mm f/6.3 is not as stellar as you would expect from a PanaLeica lens --> (RETTIFIC: 400mm is extraordinary, you don't have to make the mistake of blaming the lens when the result is affected by free-handed micromove - let's talk about 800mm equivalent - or the effect of air refraction when photographing objects very far away. I did and redone various tests and at 400mm it remains amazing, if I know how to use).

sigma_56_f1-4dnSigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN C

Pros: I would say that among the pros there are undoubtedly Bokeh and sharpness. And even the venocity of the AF is excellent

Cons: What about... has no cons! One could argue for the lack of stabilisation

Opinion: On m43 bodies the lack of de facto stabilization is not a problem. The machine body thinks about it! Tried by chance... I didn't even know it existed. intrigued I bought it (forehand: less than 400 euros new!). I was bewitched by it. Apart from the Nocticron that has something magical, it does not make other medium canvases or canvases of Oly or Pana regret. The 56mm is amazing. The sharpness levels are stellar already at TA. If he beats it head-to-head (and I don't know who's first) in terms of sharpness with the 75/1.8 Oly or with the 45mm f/1.8 or 42.5/1.7 of Pana. The Nocticron remains a hair ahead, the images it returns have a lecstatic style three-dimensionality that no other lens can give. But otherwise the Sigma is superb. The bokeh is creamy and "round", always soft and never nervous. The m43 is known to be affected by the too wide pdc (small sensor) but with the light lenses the problem is solved. Well... luminous lenses are cost and cluttered. But this Sigma solves the two aspects: reasonable cost and limited footprint (smaller than the 75mm Oly). Light. But well-structured, good gripability with the zigzagged barrel, great feeling of solidity. I mean... a lens that should not be missing in a kit! Ah.. 50cm of minimum fire distance... In short: I am a happy owner!

patona_premium_en_el15Patona Premium EN-EL15

Pros: Great, they cost half and they are spectacular!

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: I bought premium patona for Fuji, Olympus, and Nikon. I just talk about it well! They last a lot (like the originals), they cost a third. No problem with the charge or recognition. I've only been buy Patona (Premium) for a couple of years. Even with the most voracious cameras I solved very well with a couple of patona in my pocket... with a few tens of euros and a few tens of grams you forget about the problem of autonomy. Personally, I consider them to be an essential part of my kits (nikon D7200, Fuji and more)

panasonic_gf9Panasonic GF9 / GX850 / GX800

Pros: lightness, compactness, jpeg, build quality in general. Tiny

Cons: no viewfinder and double dial for adjustments. But if you buy it... you do for other features! No charger. Lack of flash sled. Tiny!

Opinion: Let's start from a premise that I think is fundamental: if you make the GX800 it's not because you're looking for what you find on the G9 (to stay in the Panasonic house) or on an X-T3 or D7500... ?! Buy it because you need a "cosettina" to carry with it, perhaps using the same optics of the set that you already have (micro4/3) when you want to overdo it, or just carrying the quality of the micro4/3 with a pancake lens (the 12-32 standard)... and maybe putting some fixed for more quality photos. If you're looking for the GX800, it doesn't disappoint. You have a clean file, beautiful color rendering, good ISO seal. Fabulous! Batteries last a little to tell the truth, but a spare size is cheap. Then when you want to overdo it you put the 12-60/2.8-4 and... almost comes to laugh. The optics are ointd with respect to the machine body. Not to mention 50-200/2.8-4. But if you want light things... you put the pancacke, or what you find at home between the fixed for micro4/3. Personally I'm overjoyed with the camera. There is a lack of stabilization on the machine body (so prefer the pana to oly optics a lot because they have the stablizer). Flaws: I do not understand why Panasonic did not put a standard charger, but only usb charging is provided! It's a pity the lack of the flash sled too! In a nutshell: camera that I unreservedly recommend. Great 4k videos as well. Try to believe: body from compatsize !!!

fujifilm_14mmFujifilm XF 14mm f/2.8 R

Pros: Absolute level optics. Excellent color rendering; excellent sharpness also at TA; robustness; fairly limited footprints

Cons: Diaphragm diaphragm a little dancer

Opinion: Having an equivalent 21mm is a must for landscapes. This lens doesn't make you regret anything: it weighs little, it's ultra-peforming, limited footprint! I've been using it for several years, and I have to say that as long as I had Fuji... he (the 14mm) was there! I held it until I had the last fuji body and it was the last lens I wanted to remove. I think it is very good, one of the best wide-angles that can be found for the Fuji system, and probably among the best wides ever. The second-hand market does not do it justice, it is sold with partial difficulty (compared to other optics). But instead it's just a fabulous lens! Nitida, engraved, does not suffer from flares or other typical robes from wide angles; Zero-oriented chromatic dyes, exemplary correct distortion (also thanks to the SW of the cameras), small and light but quality construction. What to say: a real jewel! The only thing I have to point out is that the diaphragm diaphragm diaphragm is "ballerina," you doubt it's about to break. Then you try more and you realize they're all like this! But it's a detail.... PS: I think I'm going back to Fuji...!

sony_rx1Sony RX1

Pros: ergonomics, feeling of solidity, photographic quality, held to high iso, formidable lens, presence of the flash even if "small"

Cons: batteries (little autonomy), absence of the Electronic scope, astronomical price, total absence of firmware updates (always at release 1.0... in 7 years never an update!!!). Display with outdated resolution (although largely sufficient). Track of the busy subjects (it is not the AF its strong point even if it is enough in 99.9% of cases!)

Opinion: Bought several years after its release, I do a review in 2019... 7 years after launch. To put it another way: it was the era of the Panasonic GH3, or the XPro1. It seems like an era has passed! Today, in 2019, I use it (to take photos, for videos there is better if you search species for the 4K that the RX1 does not allow to do) with real joy! It's superb. The chromatic rendering should be treated slightly if you are used to the brighter colors of Fuji but in terms of sharpness, portability, "purity" of the file is still unsurpassed today. Too bad for the monitor not unbreakable and the absence of the electronic sight but are venial sins compared to the yield even to the high iso and the quality of the lens. Autonomy. Well.. A good quality compatible battery costs 20 Euros and weighs nothing!!

fujifilm_x10Fujifilm X10

Pros: Photo quality (also in RAW), lightness, lens and focal excursion

Cons: Autonomy not quite at the top, but 20 grams of spare battery in your pocket you can bring...

Opinion: Making a review in 2019 of a camera bought 8 years ago is a nice thing to say... but Fuji X10 is still largely up to the task! After a long time I still consider her a worthy companion of adventure. 12Mpxl are vastly enough to do anything, color rendering I like, I do not make gusts and action photos... what to say: perfect! Today you buy for less than 200 euros... In my opinion for those who want a compact with good features to take photos is the camera - even today - perfect!

panasonic_7-14Panasonic Lumix G Vario 7-14mm f/4 ASPH

Pros: in 300grams you have a 14-28mm... beautiful yield, excellent sharpness, excellent chromatic rendering

Cons: Not torpicalized. Price. The flare that often peeps out...

Opinion: It is a "must have" lens: light, comfortable, small and quite portable, with good yield. For me it's the lens I use the most when I'm on the go. Landscapes and landscapes cannot be experienced without the 7-14 attached to my G9 (today, yesterday was the GH4). The last lens I'm going to sell of my m43 kit... (in the sense that it will be the one I will keep the longest).

panasonic_8fisheyePanasonic Lumix G Fisheye 8mm f/3.5

Pros: Nothing that hasn't been said... particular in its scenic, small and manageable representation.

Cons: expensive (if it is used though it's fine, but it's not easy to find it)

Opinion: An object that represents the last lens you buy for the m43 kit... certainly not one of the first! If you are passionate about nature/landscapes well... it's spectacular! Personally I use it little, but every time it is a pleasant discovery. And carrying a few hundred grams more is not the end of the world. I took it used, at a reasonable price, and as long as I keep the m43 kit is an optic that I gladly keep

panasonic_hd14-140oisPanasonic Lumix G Vario HD 14-140mm f/4-5.8 ASPH OIS

Pros: Cheap, practical, fast AF (af is faster than 14-140 II), great yield for focal excursion and very pleasant color rendering. Great as a "holiday" solution for the m43

Cons: Indisctable at 140mm, sharpness at the edges not at the highest level but still very acceptable for ordinary use and for the price range.

Opinion: I had the optics in question for a few years, then sold, then bought back. What to say: it's the perfect lens to carry around, on vacation, to have everything you need without being there to bring a real kit. Good blurred (make a portrait at 100..140mm from amazing results in view of the price. It is not a lens comparable to lenses that cost 5 times as much, but it is recommended large and unreservedly taking into account that you take home (end 2019) with 250-300 Euros.

olympus_stylus1Olympus Stylus 1

Pros: Trasportabilissima, zoom 28-300/2.8 over the entire focal range, EVF, optimum stabilizer

Cons: Noise above the ISO 1600, limited field depth because of the sensor size (from 150 to 300mm the out of the planes however is fantastic and the bokeh is not nervous but agreeable). Very standard video compartment (more than enough).

Opinion: So... let's start by saying that you don't have to compare it to ff... There's no history. But there is not even the FF when you annoy bring you 2kg of body and optics... instead the stylus 1 is there. Always (if you want). Anecdote: I learned to love it when on holiday with the family I brought the kit FF... (D750 and a pair of optics in the backpack plus a flash etc...) ... and I finally left it at the hotel. Bringing behind only the stylus 1. When I returned from the holiday I looked at the photos... what a spectacle! The yield is really stratospheric up to 400 ISO. To understand: What are you doing with your shots? If croppate to 100% or printed on paper A0... well... The 12Mpixel and the ISO you hear them. otherwise...... only Pippe mental. Also usable at ISO 2000 if printed on 13x18 or even on A4... with films it was difficult to have less grain at 2000 ISO. And the 12Mpxel are absolutely sufficient for everyone. Optics: Truly superb. Stabilization is perfect. The yield is fantastic on the whole range. Even at TA. I used it to do portraits and to do macros. Wonderful. In essence: Bought in 2015... I keep it and keep it jealously. Even if I changed many bodies: from M4/3 to FF passing through various APSC. Because Olympus does not make a new version: I think because it would be a problem for the market of Micro4/3... It was riusicita too good. And with a body/optics from the weight and footprint of a toy there was everything you need. A problem for the M4/3 low budget market... What about: Promoted with 10-(the least just to say that the video compartment is a bit under the photo compartment)
