sony_fe400_f2-8ossSony FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS

Pros: Scary full aperture sharpness, autofocus, 1.4x multiplier yield

Cons: As with all brands, the cost is the cost, even if we know that quality is paid.

Opinion: Good morning, after about two months of use in the field, I can review this perspective with some objectivity. You will tell me that there are not many to make a review, I am myself the first to criticize those who make reviews even with just a day of use, and maybe even from the garden of the house. For my part, I am aware of having used it, on the same subjects and places, and with the same camera body that I have for almost 2 years. And at the same time 90% of my photographs in recent years are mainly of birdlife. So my review is based solely and exclusively on this field. As a reference point, given that the optical park of Sony super telephoto with E-Mount mount is almost nil, I chose the excellent Sony 200/600 that in terms of performance and sharpness is already at the top, and also because 90% of Sony users use this lens for birdlife. So I hope to be of help to all future owners. Logically, since we are talking about two totally different lenses, light weight and zoom comfort are not mentioned in this comparison. To make it clear how crazy this lens is, just say that with the multiplication 1.4x, autofocus and sharpness are higher than the smooth 200/600!. Who reads my statement will say, and hell 10000 euros of logical difference that it is better ... , but only those who have Sony can know how much is already at the top the 200/600. Owners of the Sony a1 and 200/600, will be able to confirm that increasing the speed of tracking the autofocus to the maximum (value 5) instead of having an improvement, has the opposite effect. If you are lucky enough to be able to try this 400, with a Sony A1 you will be amazed to see how accurately autofocus moves at speed 5. To give an example, once even a small dragonfly is hooked, if you have the ability to keep it framed as far as possible it does not lose it, and autofocus moves from one side of the sensor to the other without equal. Using it smoothly the thing that amazed me is the sharpness of the file at full opening. We are at a crazy level, there is no need to close (except to have more depth of field). Weight blurred silence and cost, is in line with all the latest new generation lenses of any brand. So it is useless to spend more words.

sony_fe200-600Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS

Pros: Sharpness even with 61mpx sensor, autofocus speed, internal zoom, construction, price!

Cons: Lack of zoom ring lock

Opinion: Here we are after more than two years of use in the field, I can make a review of this unique optics. Unique because there are no lenses under 2000 euros, which are sharp at full aperture with a 61mpx sensor, and especially at 600mm like this!!! I know that someone will have to object, but when I read reviews of optics that have been tried for a week, even by one day!, or tried at home or in the garden (I'm talking about optics for nature photography), my knees fall. Not to mention those who compare lenses to 400mm or 500mm with this one. We all know that doing nature photography you are always short, so this lens must be compared with optics that reach 600mm. All zoom lenses (not fixed) that reach 600mm, have a dizzying drop from 500mm upwards, with dense full frame sensors. This one is not! At an incredible resolution even at 600 mm. This was the only real reason, in spite of myself that made me switch from Canon to Sony for nature photography (I still use Canon for other genres), I assure you that in Canon I was fine, and I would like to go back as soon as possible if there was a lens like this! Let's be clear a masterpiece has been made, internal zoom, weight 2115 grams, well balanced with battery grip, 600 mm at f6.3 all under 1850 euros! Fast and accurate autofocus even in low light. I'm not a lover of multipliers so I can't give my impression. I can only assure you that at full aperture it has the same quality as when it closes, so if you do not need to have more depth of field it is useless to close to increase sharpness.

sony_a99iiSony A99 II

Pros: Strong jpg files are ready and perfect in everything, scary sharpness. Speed ??and excellent holding at high ISO

Cons: Complicated menu, buttons and joystick in my opinion not as precise as canon

Opinion: I still have to test it for good and I have only one optician available. I'm currently in flush with my Canon set. What to say ...... Simply fantastic. Unique neo maybe an a-mount attack that is not known if it has a future. Although with this attack you will find very useful lenses. In short I will use comparisons of use with canon reflexes. The thing that matters is the stabilization, it snaps with 300mm freehand lenses 1/30 without stirring.
