zeiss_flektogon35_f2-4Zeiss Jena DDR Flektogon 35mm f/2.4 MC

Pros: Colors, resolution, sharpness... focal length, size

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: Among the vintage lenses at a "human" price a must for the attic quality, contrast and colors, on Apsc Fuji made fantastic, macro potential with close focus and gradual and soft blur, it has a sort of three-dimensionality and a particular detachment of planes that I love... An ambient portrait lens and reportage that never disappoints and never ceases to surprise.

pentacon_135_f2-8Pentacon 135mm f/2.8

Pros: Construction, resolution and overall optical quality and consequently image quality, sharpness, blurred and off of the planes, adaptability and surrender on digital, lightness and compactness

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: There are various versions of the lens. One with Exakta or M42 mount is the famous "monter bokeh" with aperture preset ring and 15 blades. Then there are those with diaphragm "normal" to 6 "blades", My wrote "P Zeiss Jena 135mm 2.8 MC" in the lens Hood incorporated! Needless to say that it was the reason why I took it and preferred it! More compact and lighter than the monster version, with little barrel extension, despite an helicoid that from the slightest focus distance to infinity rotates by almost 360 degrees allowing for a very precise mesa focus. In A word an excellent optics, which never disappoints (if it does is because I was wrong)... Very sharp already at full aperture, with deadlift and three-dimensionality worthy of optics much more emblazoned and expensive, beautiful colors, blurred soft and beautiful and a surprising resolve (on Fuji 16mpx) that also allows important crop. Multi coating treatment Not at the height of the T * Zeiss but still good, nothing distortion and very little AC even at full aperture, a bit duretta but usable with ease and great satisfaction! Historical notes collected: The Zeiss production was decentrated to Jena in East Germany and the Pentacon optics were born in the same factory of the Zeiss Jena for which there was evidently a design and materials and finishes combination. Over the years we have been reading mechanical modifications and the external finishes or the anti reflection treatments of the optics. In General the Pentacon are and will always be less valuable but constructively have little to envy the Zeiss Jena! My, M42 attack, must be an "interlocutory" version, I have no certainties to say that it is better than other Pentacon (for Exacta or Practika) but it is really excellent! Other Pentacon lenses, such as the 29mm 2.8 or the 50mm 1.8, are blatantly inferior to the Zeiss Jena cousins, not to mention those for the Contax system! The 135mm 2.8 in question has significantly lower market value than the Zeiss Sonnar Contax, benchmark for quality/price, needs time to be understood and exploited to the fullest, as for all vintage lenses requires calm and dedication, but it's worth it!

yashica_135_f2-8cYashica ML 135mm f/2.8 C

Pros: Constructive quality, optical quality and clarity, compactness, low weight ...

Cons: Not always very clear at full aperture to the ideal operating distance in portraiture.

Opinion: A valid alternative to the Zeiss Sonnar 2.8; in my opinion it is an excellent lens, for construction and quality of materials, compact, all in metal, with built-in hood, heavy the right, with well-frictioned rings that return a great feeling! If the focal is a whim and not essential, especially on Apsc, considering that it costs less than half the Zeiss C / Y, it definitely makes sense and the satisfactions it can give are many! With ML bodies and the help of focus peaking, the focus is easy and with good light and adequate safety time the optics do not disappoint; without prejudice to the anti-reflection treatment not up to the Zeiss T *, which is something monstrous, from which backlight some aberration and halo at full aperture (but it is enough to take the right precautions and extract the PL ...) The sharpness to all openness is not always excellent but it is still good, it advises against important crop and compels to immediately compose well and to move the feet! The contrast is discreet andthe detachment of course there is, a certain softness at full aperture is a limit in my opinion acceptable and very frequent in optics of the time and for portraits can even be an advantage.rnLash Yashica 135 ML (to avoid the DSB) still defends itself today good and if in good condition it is a recommended purchase for those who prefer to spend little and have small dimensions and weights.

canon_35_f1-4Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM

Pros: color rendition, tonal contrast, sharpness, brightness, detachment and three-dimensional effect, lightness, construction, auto focus, design (?) 35mm rn

Cons: Nobody!

Opinion: The 35L mkI has now assumed the status of "classic", for the release of the Mk II, the focal course (35mm, a classic!), For barrel materials and design conceived in fact some five years ago but ... which is fixed !!! Construction of L-series, perfect ergonomics, surgical focus, fast and quiet; It is lighter than the Sigma Art (not to mention the MkII) but also more predictable, more reliable. A TA sometimes the sharpness in the center is stunning, to scream! It is not easily usable in any situation, requires some experience, but the 35L mkI always pays off, as something more, has the class of champions ... of the classic indeed! The color rendition, contrast of tones, colors, the three-dimensionality of the image are a reference and its "defects" such as Chromatic aberration (but the Art will suffer far greater extent), the slight decline at the edges ( TA because already af 2 splits) and the littlecorrection of distortion, make it unique and distinctive, with a view to "must have"! Irreplaceable and must, with a three-dimensionality and a detachment of the stunning plans for a wide-angle lens. In a word, a sublime picture quality! Just consider the effort made to give him a worthy heir (after almost twenty years) and how this has affected the size and weight of 35L MkII ... Given the price of used, attested to date of similar figures compared to Sigma (new) , it is with the excellent Art that makes sense to do a comparison: I got them both and I think the 35L "smooth" worth every penny it costs more, in my opinion is of another category!

fujifilm_x10Fujifilm X10

Pros: Image quality, the zoom lens 28/112, functionality, analogue viewfinder, flash, beautiful, Leica style, lightweight, portable and discreet, display and much more ...

Cons: The lighting in the lens may not like it, battery life (must have at least one), no info psychedelic viewfinder and the screen only partially occupied by the lens during the extension.

Opinion: Before Fuji, the impact can be unsettling, possessing SLR pro or semi pro: It's another world! Highly recommended as first compact Fuji and as a body to be attached to a reflex! Exceedingly beautiful in its vintage style, all metal but small and light! May be too small for those with big hands and ergonomics has certainly radically different from any SLR, then we have to get used to, but it's worth it. The viewfinder compared to that of the 5D is ... never mind you can not even compare! Cons (except the battery that lasts very little) you get used to after a few hours of use and after they become hilarious goodies, which you can not give up! The camera has everything and more, you must learn to use it and each key (frets) has essential functionality, fun and customizable, the dial for exposure compensation, macro functionality, the ability to use the display in 4 different modes. .. and much more! But soprattutto the quality of the files that churns out is nothing short of stunning, within the limits of the size and resolution of the sensor. I've had for years and I have a 5Dold 6D, my benchmarks are not exactly low-profile. To use street is great for everyday idem, portraits for the complexion and color Fuji are exciting! It 'fairly responsive and fast and has no annoying lag. I compared with the urban landscape in 6D and beyond the reduced possibilities for crop I was thrilled! If in extreme conditions and appropriately set, perhaps closing a bit, the quality is there. The ISO: 800 made dignified, almost no noise is perceived but the detail is less to ISO 1600, in addition there is no need to push, better to use the built-in flash rece ... This is actually a farewell, the yield for the X30, are not convinced ... I will miss him, even the analogue viewfinder without any info, some psychedelic for aberrations and distortions that! The value for & asevere; / price (current Charity) is very high ... rnP.s. updated after a few days when I held both at the end remained with me for the X10, the X30 does not convince me ... maybe I'll open a topic about it. I think the best X10 as IQ, and very much more beautiful.

samyang_85Samyang 85mm f/1.4 Aspherical IF

Pros: Manual

Cons: Manual

Opinion: Rocky but light, bright, excellent construction (except the cap), good ring Mf, some duretta but just so, soft blurry, of great plans detachment! fine lens, but the question is simple: if you prefer to work manually selecting the aperture and looking for the fire as before, with the special nuts ... or for a price difference would call today paltry (50-60 euro on ' used) is easy and obvious prefer the Canon 1.8. I got them both and this (after involved in an exchange) I redid my soon as possible, why? And 'too much fun to work in manual !! But on one condition: to have some assistance (ML focus on pick) of Canon imprescidibile luminiso a viewfinder, a precision slide, very much enjoyed a chip that give you a confirmation on focus (as in my esamplare), otherwise ta or closed by one or two stops is tough to master it, unless it works with LV and trappiede. The comparison should be done paradoxically more with the monster 85L f1.2, whichwith Canon 85 f1.8, 1/8 coast ... you can easily notice the quality / unbeatable price, but also appreciate the great optical quality of this lens! The pros are the cons are the same: it is then manually or you appreciate or do not appreciate ... I would leave it to always be mounted on the SLR! He gave me many satisfactions. Without leaving home I do not know how many times the 135L, for the challenge and the shooting experience it offers. optical quality and excellent sharpness between f 2.0 f 5.6 (range from Portrait) a little soft wide open, crisp properly until af 8.0 which works well even to infinity, more versatile than you might think. It does not return the Canon warm colors but that's okay!

canon_20_f2-8Canon EF 20mm f/2.8 USM

Pros: 20 mm! Superb corner on both formats! Auto focus Usm fast and interior, color rendering, controlled distortion, light, resistance to flare, sharpness and brightness!

Cons: I have not noticed ...

Opinion: Amazing corner of FF, a real wide angle with controlled distortion that becomes a 35mm equivalent on APS-c. Excellent auto focus, construction and optical quality without compromise, all metal, with internal af, lightweight and portable, in my opinion very clear as well as light, excellent color rendering! rnL'unico against the yield seems to be poor at the edges, but on 5D old I frankly have not noticed, let alone with the crop of aps-c ... perhaps it is less suitable for sensors more recent and demanding being a project a bit dated. However, a good goal, in its own unique way to the strong identity that has both formats, if you are familiar with fixed lenses inevitable and better the old 24 in all, with quality and yield more than good, considering the price!

sigma_24-70_f2-8Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM

Pros: Versatility, brightness, sharpness, color, construction, silent auto focus, fast and accurate, the price (or at least compared to the equivalent of used Canon / Nikon) ...

Cons: Weight and size ... but there is little to do. If you want to zoom 2.8 quality I think is inevitable and acceptable. ..

Opinion: I'm not familiar with the zoom there is little to do. I have not for a matter of approach to photography: I prefer three continuous. But the versatility of a 24/70 species on the full format is remarkable. I suffered the weight also ... For optical quality, auto focus, sharpness and I keep building more than a good memory! Costs half the Canon, I can not make comparisons on the relevant image quality but my Sigma 24/70 it was excellent even on demanding APSC sensors and clogged. Risolvenza quite good, bright ... a must for anyone today is not to invest more than a certain number (450 average of the current assessments of second) in a standard zoom! Recommended therefore, those figures do not think there's any better ... sure my beloved drives are another thing.

canon_20-35Canon EF 20-35mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

Pros: Lightweight, USM, versatile especially on FF but also interesting on aps-c (+/- the angle of a 34/56), fairly crisp, aesthetically pleasing, unobtrusive without hood (with is more comprehensive but more bulky and visible), internal auto focus and full time MF.

Cons: A bit dark, flare often present with PL, AC, distortion still correctable to 20mm.

Opinion: Lens rather rare and little known with interesting focal range especially on full frame, lightweight, focusing fast and without any extension of the barrel. Did not have (like zoom range) heirs them among the professional L-series lenses, the optical quality which probably comes very close. New cost over 450, is now out of production (but not easy) to around 200 euro. Mount the hood of the 10/22 17/40 L (77mm filter diameter), it becomes a little cumbersome but it is important because the flare there and it becomes difficult if not impossible to eliminate it. Does not guarantee deadlifts plans it blurred particularly pleasing as it is quite dark, great for street and vistas where a 20/35 always useful. Clear if closed, I did not notice vignetting on FF, resolute and crystal clear on aps-c sensor as dense as those from the 550D on! Overall good lens that does not excel in anything, but you can do a little of everything in the field of wide-angle or even held fixed at 35mm (or 20mm on the size) ... does not make you droolbut can give satisfaction. Aesthetically, in my opinion very very nice (for what it can import). rn

canon_5dCanon 5D

Pros: Full frame, file quality, fairytale sensor for 13mpx poor, solid and well-balanced body, viewfinder, Af central point, simplicity of use, yield and three-dimensionality, light and ready-made files. No dirty (in my case) even without self cleaning the sensor. ISO 50. Good expoter and WB car. Shooting time 1/8000.

Cons: LCD and processor a bit dated. No Live wiew (not suitable for macro photos). Sometimes awkward shooting noise (little suitable for shots in theater, dance etc.), high isO limit, sparse burst (but no one has ever dreamed of hunting with her, is born and dies for portraiture and landscape). There is no IsO Auto.

Opinion: For those who love photography and photograph point and that's it, with an almost analog approach. Need a decent burst? Wi-Fi? The touchscreen? Do you want to photograph at 200,000 iso? Then buy more! Are you on a tight budget and want to buy a professional FF room for the price of a compact? Take it and take it, period! With her you have soft and manageable files. We combine good quality fixed optics without fainting (type 85 1.8, 100 2.0, 28 1.8, 50 1.4) and find that even today for portraiture and landscapes is a must! What an airy ness and three-dimensionality can give the old 5D! The display is old and unresolved (for today's standars), but you get used to it and anyway you know that the photos you don't have to judge them. You then see them on monitors and... jaw falls! The noise is there (over 1600 ISO but not only) but of luminance and is sometimes even beautiful, with vintage grain. Rocky... a little bit heavier than the 6D. Even today a great camera capable of giving satisfaction because it is able to return magical photos.
