canon_rf24-105_f2-8zCanon RF 24-105mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z

Pros: Sharpness, bokeh, responsiveness

Cons: Size, especially length. Price

Opinion: As soon as I arrived, I tried to try the new lens as best I could, but I reserve the right to update this first comment in the future. In short, certainly in terms of engraving, blur, stabilization and focusing speed it is even better than expected and, at a first very quick examination, it also seems to exceed the 24-70 f2.8, already in my possession (clearly in the equivalent focal range). Excellent colors and micro-contrast, almost macro. Among the cons there are certainly the dimensions: not so much the weight, as it is really well balanced, but, actually, the length that displaces a bit, especially when it is mounted on the camera. In any case, and regardless, the other negative aspect is, of course, the price.

canon_rf85_f1-2dsCanon RF 85mm f/1.2 L USM DS

Pros: Sharpness and bokeh in the first place

Cons: If it had been stabilized, it would have been the non plus ultra.

Opinion: First of all, it is responsive, fast and silent if we consider the type and size. Nevertheless, it is accurate and precise in focus and is extraordinarily engraved in sharpness. But the flagship is certainly the blurred, something for which, basically, it is chosen: soft in the transition of perspective planes, creamy and fairytale, never brutal despite the very high resolution and very pleasant even in the area in front of the subject in the foreground and not only in the negative space behind it. The frame with a dreamlike scent that gives designates it as a worthy successor of its EF counterpart for SLR, compared to which it remains, in any case, sharper already at TA and markedly faster in operational use. Of course the stabilizer would have been convenient, but it would certainly have complicated the configuration of weight and dimensions; Moreover, being dedicated, substantially, to mirrorless with stabilization on the sensor, relegates its absence to the case of a completely negligible element. I sincerely thank Dario Delfine for the valuable information given to me regarding this wonderful perspective.

canon_eos_r3Canon EOS R3

Pros: Viewfinder equipped with an algorithm that makes it the best possible approximation of an optical viewfinder. Gaze-controlled focus is possible even in catastrophic light conditions. Responsiveness, performance and versatility of AF. Very low noise as the ISO rises. Low weight when compared to that of a reflex flagship counterpart.

Cons: If it had a handful of extra pixels it would be the non plus ultra ! The dual-pixel raw is missing.

Opinion: A flagship that, however, weighs on average about 1/2 kilo less than an equivalent SLR. Its performance is precisely from flagship: shutter speed up to 1/64000, crazy burst, noise containment at high ISO record, tropicalization at the highest levels on the market, dynamic range at the top, large and super bright viewfinder, equipped with a function that assimilates it to an optical viewfinder, LCD screen with very high resolution: how, moreover, the same viewfinder. It deserves a mention apart from the AF compartment, in which the focus is shining controlled directly by the user's pupil (there is a device that stores the calibration of the photographer's iris), which allows you to use the AF, which follows what you are following with your gaze, as is not possible on any other camera on the market; but, not least is the responsiveness and performance of the same autofocus module: 4779 areas capable of automatically recognizing not only people, or animals, but also vehicles and able to do all this practically in the dark! In fact, the photos that should be, possibly, to be trashed would be, without less, to be ascribed solely to the user and not attributable to the device. Finally, even the resolution, which is not in line with the trend based on increasingly dense sensors and which could be increased, does not penalize the detail that much, thanks to an absolutely non-invasive anti-aliasing filter. It lacks the dual-pixel raw, which made its appearance on the 5D MK IV and was further developed on the R5. In conclusion and in any case, it remains a "podium" camera.

canon_rf100-500Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 L IS USM

Pros: Fast, precise and silent AF. Very effective stabilization. Really engraved. Incredibly lightweight.

Cons: If it were a little brighter it would be great. Engagement with the extender possible only with the lens in extension.

Opinion: So, those who come from the excellent EF 100-400 LIS II have enormous expectations and at the beginning are a bit biased, in the sense of considering it difficult to do better than the aforementioned optics. Well the 100-500 is superior in everything compared to the predecessor: sharpness, micro-contrast, AF, stabilization, blurred, minimum focusing distance, less weight and so on and so forth: the more you put. Only in two respects, apart from the cost, it remains a little behind its brother: the brightness (although there is to consider that this reaches 500 mm and does not stop at 400) and the use with duplicators. I will try to explain this aspect better: to mount the duplicator, the lens must be opened to 300 mm, otherwise the engagement is impossible: this means that as a zoom it loses part of its versatility, in the sense that we will have a 300-700 mm (with the ex. 1.4x), or a 300-1000 (with the ex. 2x), in addition to the fact that to carry it duplicate in the backpack, the latter must be decidedly large, in order to accommodate such a long optics .... Having said that I would buy it again, because it absolutely does not disappoint, but giving up the extender, which in fact I resold.

canon_rf15-35_f2-8Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8 L IS USM

Pros: Excellent containment of all issues related to the range of focal lengths considered. Consistent performance and sharpness throughout the format. Effective stabilization. Build quality.

Cons: None in particular, apart from the not indifferent cost.

Opinion: Canon in previous versions, of the counterpart for SLR (to be precise the 16-35 f2.8), had failed in the intent to design and create an optics that did not arouse strong perplexities, which notoriously led users to prefer the cheapest and least bright version: the f4 which, in many respects, was more performing. Now it can be said, indeed, that the ghosts of the past are behind us and that this lens surprises in every respect considered. Moreover, the software for correcting distortion, aberration etc. works great in the car, without considering that, unlike its predecessor, this one is also stabilized here. Amazing both sharpness and contrast: you have the feeling that these RF optics have been designed to solve, in perspective, increasingly dense sensors. The bokeh, then, is a very pleasant surprise, considering that we are dealing with a wide angle.

canon_eos_r6Canon EOS R6

Pros: Responsiveness, noise containment at high iso, autofocus.

Cons: None, if you take into account the segment in which it is located.

Opinion: I believe that, at present, Canon is the product with the best value for money. For the video sector I can not pronounce myself not being up to do it, while for photography I find, honestly, difficult to find defects, just as it is difficult to put it in difficulty. It focuses in unthinkable light conditions and contains very, very well the noise as the iso rises. The autofocus module is highly performing, with the latest firmware update it also "recognizes" vehicles, the stabilizer on the sensor is effective and the overall responsiveness of the machine is worthy of a flagship. The battery also lasts longer than expected. Last but not least, like its sister R5, through Canon adapters, it works extraordinarily well and in tune with the slightly older EF lenses. Finally, the colors returned are very natural and the files are very well workable. At the limit you can feel the lack of the upper display and some other key, ergonomically speaking, but I repeat for the class of cameras in which it is placed and for the sale price, you really can not object to anything else.

canon_rf70-200_f2-8lCanon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM

Pros: Sharpness, autofocus, stabilization

Cons: Only the price

Opinion: Having owned the latest versions of the 70-200 f2.8 for SLRs, I can assert that since it is a super-proven optical scheme and a "mature" lens in terms of technological development, it was difficult to improve, at the state of current technical knowledge, their successor for mirror-less. Having said that, the objective does not disappoint at all, indeed it is actually better, than its predecessors, in several respects: silence (more and more account is taken of a possible use in the video field); stabilization (the synergy of the double stabilization on the sensor and in the lens, opens up scenarios as pleasant as unusual); autofocus very fast and more and more precise (difficult to put it in difficulty or make it lose a shot); weight and bulk that have been considerably reduced to the advantage of portability and handling, albeit at the cost of having adopted an extensible scheme that may not even appeal, however, to everyone. The sharpness remains the flagship, together with a blurred one that presents a smooth and "creamy" transition of the perspective planes. Finally, the color rendering is increasingly based on returning the colors in shades as natural as possible, without dominant.

canon_rf85_f2macroCanon RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM

Pros: Performance, size, weight, price.

Cons: Absence of tropicalization

Opinion: The optics exceed expectations in everything, in particular in definition and in addition returns a truly unexpected bokeh. The only really considerable drawback does not lie in the lack of the hood or in the absence of the soft case, but in the lack of tropicalization, if there were it would be a must at that price .....

canon_rf100macro_isCanon RF 100mm f/2.8 L Macro IS USM

Pros: Magnification ratio, sharpness, colors, unprecedented control of spherical aberration and therefore of blur.

Cons: Honestly at a high price, although congruous to the technological innovations, I would have found it reasonable to provide it with a tripod ring.

Opinion: The lens, as it was logical to expect, is of a stunning sharpness and returns colors equally at the top. The same applies to the micro-contrast, which is expected to be high from a professional macro and which does not disappoint, from the first shots. The operating silence and the speed of the autofocus really fast are striking, even considering the type of lens. What makes the difference, however, lies, substantially, in two characteristics that, at the current state of things, are unique: the magnification factor 1.4 and the control of bokeh: both open up scenarios as unusual as they are exciting. We can now go further and further into details hitherto unexplored from a photographic perspective and check, already in the car, the background of the image we portray. In this regard and provided that we use the SA ring grano salis, we find ourselves a tool of undoubted usefulness also in portraiture, always after having made a little 'hand. In all honesty, the only note is the absence of the tripod ring-bracket, which at that price could, quietly, have been part of the package.

canon_rf24-70_f2-8Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8 L IS USM

Pros: Sharpness, bokeh, stabilization.

Cons: Maybe just the cost.

Opinion: A very well-groomed realization, both in materials and details, fluid dials, generous dimensions, but well balanced. As has been said, the sharpness is staggering, but nevertheless surprising, for effectiveness, stabilization and bokeh. The optics provide very high performance throughout its focal excursion without dips and/or differences. I would add that it is also aesthetically beautiful.

canon_eos_r5Canon EOS R5

Pros: Versatility and responsiveness

Cons: Excellent ergonomics, but perhaps further improveable.

Opinion: Among the aspects that impress the most and that impress at the first uses are definitely: the containment of noise at the high ISO, the stabilization that goes far beyond the expectations and the responsiveness of the autofocus module, as well as its complexity as a whole, which guarantees performance as unusual as excellent. Another very interesting feature, of which little or nothing is talked about, is the incredible development that had the Dual Pixel Raw, now landed on new and interesting practical applications. Coming from the reflex world, at least at the beginning, something seems to be missing in ergonomics, but it resolves with the very high degree of customizations. For reasons of non-use, I can not comment on the video sector.
