![]() | Tokina AT-X 24-70mm f/2.8 PRO FX Pros: Very solid construction, aesthetically and very pleasant in spite of the photo looks like "old school" compared to competitors; Autofocus absolutely not noisy as you read, at least in the model tried. Color rendering tends to "warm" and tack lightly on the cream that I personally like especially on Nikon. Cons: The optical quality, at least in the model tested, is far from the praises that they weave on the Internet; Soft at full aperture at any focal length and not miraculous as you read at more closed diaphragms. Very weak to 101% under strong lights as a normal day of the summer sun, under which the contrast decreases in an obvious way to open. Switch Ring Auto-manual uncomfortable, often engages because it does not fully enter the manual. Opinion: Tried a specimen for 2-3 hours doing several tests in anticipation of purchase, I even feared there were problems of focus because it was soft, and I did not expect absolutely after evaluating precisely the purchase for months.. Doubts unfortunately dispelled with several tests in manual focus with LiveView at 100% zoom. The autofocus isn't as noisy as it reads (maybe flaw of the first samples used around the net for reviews?), but it's still slow for a lens with this cost.. Let's say that for my attempts has not wavered, arrives "slow and safe" on the subject. Not comparable to AF-s Nikon autofocus much faster. The colour rendition is warm and not very contrasted (in a pleasant way), but under the sun the contrast at the opening falls below the sufficiency; I think it compromises a tendency to use matrimonialistic or reportagistic. I think the lens I tried was a copy unfortunately unfortunate and softer than due, otherwise I do not explain the various tests on the web, and yet I am looking more carefully at various photos on the web and I do not find all this definition.. Staying in suspense on this point, I think that if you possess a good specimen can actually be a good lens for those who use diaphragms more closed, landscaping for example, but I for weddings and portraiture-reportage in live situations, Reluctantly I desisted from the purchase because to a direct comparison photo for photos, my very simple Tamron 28-75 2.8 won both as a definition at full aperture, both as autofocus speed, as well as contrast and surrender under the sun.. Still hard to believe it. sent on July 15, 2018 |
