pentax_50-200wrPentax SMC DA 50-200mm f/4-5.6 ED WR

Pros: compact, lightweight, sealed, fast autofocus

Cons: dim, diafamma not constant light output

Opinion: I bought this lens along with the K7 kit and I used it a couple of years. Now replaced by the more powerful DA 55-300 ED. The optics are very compact and lightweight tropical. Good zoom range, but for certain kinds of photos is short. I've never been fully satisfied in terms of light output. A short distance of the subjects I had very good results, and with the subjects farther away never made the maximum above the maximum focal length, but here there was also the complicity of AF prong of my K7. With that problem images have improved, but I have not found too incisive to the maximum focal length compared to 55-300 AND I have now. Always compared to 55-300 ED, however, has since its a faster autofocus given by the shorter stroke and tropicalization. Replaced mainly because I needed a longer lens on the side remote, but it does its job honestly.

pentax_18-55wrPentax SMC DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL WR

Pros: lightweight, compact, good image rendering, tropicalized

Cons: dim, wide open aperture is not constant

Opinion: I bought this lens as a kit with the K7 and I got to use it a couple of years. Now "replaced" by the Pentax SMC DA 16-45 f / 4 ED AL. Replaced, but only in part, on some occasions I use it again. Initially I was not satisfied, the yield did not like it, then I realized that the problem was in K7 (strong backfocus can only be corrected via debug mode). After fixing the K7 I could appreciate the good optical performance of this lens at all focal lengths especially if you close a couple of the aperture stop. In my opinion is worth much more than it costs. The focal range is classic and versatile. Since WR (weather sealed) it can be used safely in all weather conditions without any problems.

pentax_16-45Pentax SMC DA 16-45mm f/4 ED AL

Pros: constant aperture, image quality, versatile, minimum distance of focus, fast autofocus, price

Cons: the minimum focal length, the maximum short focal length, not weather sealed

Opinion: I purchased this lens to replace the valid while SMC Pentax DA 18-55 3.5 to 5.6 ED WR, both for the best optical performance at all focal lengths, that for the diaphragm constant. I found just excellent from the optical point of view. In many cases if the beats on a par with the most expensive SMC DA 17-70 f / 4 and SMC DA * 16-50 f / 2,8 and costs much less. The picture quality is excellent at all focal lengths and has a nice color rendering. He did not even particularly pronounced distortion at 16mm, and they are still easily correctable in post production. The vignetting at 16mm can sometimes be obvious wide open, but stopping down one or two stops, the problem disappears. The focal more behaves very well from this point of view. The zoom is a little short from the "tele", 45mm can sometimes be few. But he has a minimum focusing distance of very short which allows you to use it even for close-up photos and details with a magnification ratio of approximately 1:4. One downside to this lens is the focal length at minimum: using the built-in flash you get pronounced shadows and so you need to use only a 20mm focal up or with an external flash. The other defect or failure in my opinion is the tropicalization. It would be helpful since the combination with SLR as K5 and K7. It is used with good facilities and really good prices.
