In questi giorni trascorsi, da Photo Ambassador per ESO, agli osservatori era presente la Luna. Questa limita la visione delle stelle ed in particolar modo della Via Lattea. Ho comunque trovato il momento in cui questa sorge all'orizzonte durante la notte davvero magico. Si esce dalla semioscurità e si entra per qualche istante in un mondo incantevole dove le stelle sono ancora ben visibili ed una luce dorata generata dal nostro satellite illumina gli oggetti. ?In primo piano sono visibili le ultime installazioni dell'Osservatorio di La Silla. Queste per la loro particolare forma ed apertura sono state chiamate Astroshell. In questi giorni in Cile il nucleo della Via Lattea è sotto l'orizzonte ma si possono comunque ben vedere le regioni esterne. In questa immagine si può vedere la Croce del Sud bassa sull'orizzonte. In sequenza verso l'alto a sinistra: la Costellazione Mosca; la Nebulosa della Carena nella omonima costellazione e la Costellazione Vele. Da notare la panchina in legno dove ho potuto ammirare incantevoli tramonti e splendidi cieli stellati.
