Ultimamente ho sempre meno il desiderio di passare tempo nel condividere immagini sul web. Per me la fotografia di natura è sempre stata sinonimo di intimo contatto con l'ambiente circostante, in meravigliosa solitudine. Oggi il senso profondo della fotografia naturalistica (mostrare l'unicità di un ambiente per ispirare le persone a sensibilizzarsi verso di esso) sembra essersi perso quasi del tutto. La fotografia è oggi prevalentemente un business, ove persone animate da intenti sinceri si miscelano a speculatori senza scrupoli, e tutti ci si affaccia sui palcoscenici dei social media, alla ricerca del proprio spazio. Vivere in Islanda mi ha portato ancor di più a riflettere su certi aspetti in questi ultimi anni. L'Islanda, al contrario di quanto si creda comunemente, è ancora un terra di grandi spazi e solitudine, di incommensurabile bellezza. Ma tutto questo non può più essere trovato lungo i percorsi turistici: Qui infatti c'è il peggio possibile del turismo di massa, e del turismo fotografico in genere. I visitatori si ammassano tutti in pochi luoghi, i quali ormai hanno perso la loro vera essenza, forse per sempre. Ma buona parte dell'Islanda è per fortuna ancora relativamente salva. La natura qui è incredibilmente fragile e delicata, le forme di vita si attaccano a quel poco terreno che è rimasto, dopo la totale deforestazione compiuta da vichinghi al tempo della colonizzazione umana. Spesso il solo camminare su un terreno (come il campo di lava ritratto in questa foto) produce dei danni. Basta un piede messo nel modo sbagliato ed il sottile strato di terra che ricopre il terreno lavico si rovina per sempre. La più grande difficoltà che ho avuto nel fare questa foto è stata infatti quella di danneggiare il muschio il meno possibile. Ho studiato la potenziale composizione prima di entrare nel campo di lava stesso, imponendomi di non addentrarmi per più di pochi metri, passando sulle rocce ed evitando il muschio. Mi sforzerò nei prossimi tempi nel mostrare più immagini di tutto il lavoro fotografico che ho fatto e che sto facendo su questa meravigliosa isola. Come ho scritto prima per me è diventato ormai realmente difficile e faticoso passare del tempo sul web, ma desidero anche condividere almeno una piccola parte della "mia" Islanda. Un'Islanda fatta di intimità e solitudine, che, per quanto mi riguarda, non vuole essere ne migliore ne diversa, ma semplicemente "mia". A presto!
