Immagine dell'ingresso della camera da letto con arredi originali del castello di Miramare, questo edificio ed il parco circostante furono edificati per volontà dell'arciduca Massimiliano d'Asburgo che decise di costruire alla periferia di Trieste una residenza consona al proprio rango, affacciata sul mare e cinta da un esteso giardino. Affascinato dalla bellezza del promontorio di Grignano, uno sperone carsico a dirupo sul mare, Massimiliano lo acquisì. La posa della prima pietra del Castello avviene il 1° marzo 1856. Alla Vigilia del Natale del 1860 Massimiliano e la consorte, Carlotta del Belgio, prendono alloggio al pianoterra dell'edificio, che a quella data presenta gli esterni del tutto completati, mentre gli interni lo sono solo parzialmente, in quanto il primo piano è ancora in fase di allestimento. Il palazzo, progettato dall'ingegnere austriaco Carl Junker, presenta vari stili architettonici, si riconoscono infatti modelli tratti dai periodi gotico, medievale e rinascimentale, che si combinano in una sorprendente fusione. Nel Castello di Miramare Massimiliano attua una sintesi perfetta tra natura e arte, profumi mediterranei e austere forme europee, ricreando uno scenario assolutamente unico grazie alla presenza del mare, che detta il colore azzurro delle tappezzerie del pianoterra del Castello, e ispira nomi e arredi di diversi ambienti. La realizzazione degli interni reca la firma degli artigiani Franz e Julius Hofmann: il pianoterra, destinato agli appartamenti privati di Massimiliano e Carlotta, ha un carattere intimo e familiare; il primo piano, completato successivamente, è invece quello di rappresentanza, riservato agli ospiti che non potevano non restare abbagliati dai sontuosi ornati istoriati di stemmi e dalle rosse tappezzerie con il simboli imperiali. Un triste aneddoto di questa camera, Massimiliano non vi dormi mai, perché nel momento della su realizzazione si trovava in Messico, ma li morì prima di rientrare in patria

Great shot, Salvo. I know this castle very well.
