Lovely 'free' image Ann, wonderfully minimal and tone. Is this true black and white? (my Dunes has a tint of dark blue)

Thanks, Tim! Converted in Silver Efex, using one of the high key presets and then some adjustments. I can't see the hint of blue in your Dunes!

It reminds me of St Augustine ......
"Augustine, Augustine, quid quaeris? Putasne short immittere vascular totum sea?"
"Augustine, Augustine what you are looking for? Perhaps you think you can put all the sea in your ship? ".
Good shot, Ann! Philosophical point of view still very actual ...!
Beautiful shot, Ann! A philosophical point of view still relevant today!

I downloaded silver Efex when it became free but haven't even tried to use it since - I seem to manage fairly well using my own manual 'system' and hate learning new things! Did you see the colour tone in my Hythe Pier Railway? They can just take the edge of coldness off a straight black and white but also need to be used sparingly. (in my opinion)

That's a great quote, Rita, and so very appropriate! Thank you so much!

I love using silver Efex, Tim - all my recent b & w's have been processed using it and I highly recommend it - it gives you so much control! There are coloured filters there, too - I think I may have applied a green filter to this image but I tried several and can't remember whether or not I used one in the final image. And, yes, I could see the colour tone in your Hythe Pier Railway.

Ann :))

I use all the (b&w) colour filters all the time, but each in varying amounts (but not in S Efex). I tend to almost never use any presets for anything though, so we'll see. That other colour tone was intentionally more obvious - David M really liked that image but he likes old trains and things anyway.

Thanks very much, Biz! The tide was coming in fast but they were in no real danger, although I hope they didn't stay there much longer!
