The Agami Heron was the number 1 target species for our trip to Nicaragua and must be one of the most prized captures for any bird photographer. The shot was under difficult circumstances. It was night time, we were on a boat moving forward towards the subject and the subject was very shy and kept moving forward as well. We could not get closer that about 25-30 meters. We had a spot light on the boat but it was not so strong at that distance so had to rely on that light and my speedlight. The shot itself is not the best but it is the best compromise I could make between detail, color and noise reduction. Still a little too much noise in the background but any more reduction made the image too dull. Still it was a great thrill just to have the opportunity to see this allusive prize.
