Snailtrain. Sex in mind? sent on August 21, 2015 (9:54) by Jypka. 76 comments, 2787 views.

at 70mm, 1/25 f/2.8, ISO 1000, hand held.

This is ash-grey slug (Limax cinereoniger). It is the biggest landsnail in Europe. It can grow even 20 cm long. I asked from an expert of a nature website what is going on here. He is an expert of insects but not especially on snails. He had two choices: 1) the land is dry. So to the second snail it is easier to follow because the trail is already "wet". 2) because the second snail is bigger, it is probably the male. The snails goes like this, if they prepare to copulate. The copulation takes place usually in a tree. I prefer the latter choice, so, the male has sex in mind!!! This couple went like this as long as I followed them (about two metres) even down the stairs. This was the first time to me to see something like this.
