Hi, the Canon combination is a very tough one to beat indeed. :)

When shooting macro the depth of field depends also on pupil magnification and that's difficult to quantify. An advantage of a smaller sensor is that a lower magnification is needed so fewer exposures are usually made when making stacks. The disavantage is the lower image quality compared to a FF sensor.
