La mostra "Carrozze Regali. Cortei di gala di Papi, Principi e Re" proposta alla Reggia di Venaria ha avuto per oggetto le meravigliose carrozze usate dai sovrani per le loro uscite pubbliche in occasioni di grandi cerimonie. Si tratta di "opere" tra le più sfarzose ed affascinanti della storia delle corti: un patrimonio di grande importanza che desta incanto e stupore, e su cui si intende attirare interesse ed attenzione per le valenze storiche ed artistiche che richiama. Sono presenti alcune superbe carrozze e portantine del Settecento come le carrozze di gala dei sovrani italiani della Restaurazione, dei re di Napoli e Sardegna e del Granduca di Toscana. Particolarmente significative le carrozze appartenute a Carlo Alberto, Pio IX e Vittorio Emanuele II, che conducono idealmente dal Risorgimento fino all'Unità d'Italia ed alla sontuosa corte che Umberto I e Margherita aprirono a Roma, finalmente Capitale della Nazione unificata. Nella foto la berlina di gala di Ferdinando II di Borbone, re delle Due Sicilie, realizzata nel 1838, ha una cassa in rame dorato con applicazioni in argento sbalzato che raffigurano le allegorie di Napoli e Palermo, a cui fu aggiunto l'arme dei Savoia quando il Regno delle Due Sicilie fu annesso al Regno d'Italia.
