Una splendida giornata di sole, sveglia presto, zaino in spalla e tanta voglia di condividere le sensazioni provate da bambino con una persona speciale. La meta raggiunta è il Rifugio Bozzi, alta Val Camonica, località Case Di Viso. Un luogo dove sono ancora presenti le testimonianze della guerra che ha visto morire centinaia di militari, a cui è stato dedicato un monumento proprio vicino al rifugio. Proprio quando si riprende il cammino del ritorno veniamo avvistati dalle "sentinelle", mimetizzate nella pietraia. Fortuna vuole che siamo soli lungo il sentiero e nessuno può disturbare il nostro mesto avvicinamento alle marmotte. Ad ogni passo il battito cardiaco si fa sempre più rapido ed il cuore sale in gola, l'emozione di trovarsi a 7m da tre esemplari bellissimi è fortissima. La serie di scatti viene interrotta solamente da un lungo ed interminabile minuto in cui gli sguardi si incrociano, resto immobile, inerme di fronte a questo momento magico. Tre fischi a valle, tre fischi a monte, "sono qui, ritirata". Forse per qualcuno la vita in questo luogo è ancora come allora, in trincea.
