I'm not an expert, but the photo and the event seem really exceptional to me.

Congratulations for the shot and for the very interesting note; I read that you took the photo using Nikon's 180-600 zoom; Have you applied a particular filter to it? A simple welder's screen? in those days, however, spectacular aurora borealis were visible in various places in Italy, even in the Mantua area :-)

Thanks for enjoying this shot, Merak.dubhe! Yes, I applied a screw filter on the front lens with a density 5 astrosolar sheet that reduces the intensity of sunlight by 99.999%. This protects both the eyes and retina of the viewer (especially!!) as well as the camera sensor. For the record, I had the filter specially built by the company CO. BUT. by Adriano Lolli (https://www.adrianololli.com/). As for the Northern Lights, which can be observed all over Italy, unfortunately nothing has been seen from Rome :-( :-(
In a dozen days, the infamous group of spots AR3664 should be visible again, increased or decreased in size, due to the effect of solar rogation ... Who knows, we'll see! 8-)
Best regards
