Francesco di Paola che scavalca il fiume Busento nella città di Cosenza, Si narra che Alarico, dopo il saccheggio di Roma nel 410, mentre percorreva la penisola verso sud, morì presumibilmente per febbri malariche. Egli chiese di essere sepolto nel letto del fiume Busento. I Visigoti deviarono allora il corso del fiume, vi seppellirono il Re con le sue armi, il suo cavallo e il suo tesoro. Poi ripristinarono il fiume nel suo letto e le acque ripresero il loro corso naturale. Gli schiavi che furono utilizzati per scavare la tomba furono tutti uccisi perché non rivelassero mai il segreto della sepoltura.
