Mugoni è il nome di una delle spiagge più belle della zona di Alghero, nella baia di Porto Conte. Sabbia bianca, acqua cristallina, solite cose. Ma il nome di questo spiaggia deriva dalla famiglia in passato proprietaria di una bellissima villa e azienda agricola i cui resti sono oggi nascosti tra gli alti pini a pochi passi dal mare. L'azienda era nota per la produzione di vino e cotone. Sebbene nel corso dei decenni abbia subito vari crolli e attacchi vandalici (le immancabili svastiche, proprio sulla facciata più bella della casa) Villa Mugoni colpisce ancora oggi per la sua bellezza e le sue dimensioni. Gli ampi spazi, la terrazza, le cantine, le linee liberty, le finestre ad arco e i bei pavimenti danno un'idea di quello che un tempo doveva essere l'aspetto di questa maestosa villa. A pochi metri sono presenti altre costruzioni: le scuderie e i magazzini dell'azienda, ormai del tutto coperti da un intricato groviglio di rovi e arbusti. In tempi recenti è stato presentato un contestato piano di riconversione strutturale dell'area che prevederebbe la costruzione di un grande albergo di lusso al posto di quella che un tempo era la tenuta della famiglia Mugoni.
