Morgongiori è un piccolo paese arroccato sulle pendici del monte Arci, un tempo, un vulcano attivo, non per niente è considerato il più grosso bacino di ossidiana del neolitico. Si trova in una regione per il resto collinare, la marmilla, in provincia di Oristano. Dolci pendii verdi e fertili. E' un paese piccolo è vero, meno di 500 abitanti, ma ricco di storia e di tradizioni che ancora oggi resistono. Avete presente le lorighittas? la famosa pasta intrecciata a mano ? Ecco questa è la sua patria. Lorighittas significa orecchini, per la forma di questa pasta tipica. Si resta incantati per la bellezza dei suoi boschi di querce secolari, percorsi da ridenti fiumiciattoli che scendono lungo le pendici del monte con tante cascate. Qui ancora si respira aria "leggera", qui il ritmo è lento, compassato. Ci si saluta ancora per strada, perfino fra sconosciuti, perché è cortesia, perché la gente di qui è ospitale. Qui, nelle campagne, dove si fa su e giù per ripide salite e strade troppo strette per passarci col fuoristrada, ci sono degli uliveti piantati dai Nonni, dai mezzadri che curavano le terre dei proprietari come se fossero le loro. E sono belli e puliti come allora, perché c'è ancora chi se ne prende cura come a quei tempi. Anche se in campagna ci va sempre meno gente... E l'olio che queste olive regalano profuma ed é dorato e le olive si raccolgono ancora a mano. Dal paese si ammira la pianura, fino al golfo di Oristano, e l'altopiano della giara di Gesturi. Sapete cosa penso mentre scrivo queste righe ? Che Morgongiori è tutto questo e molto più di questo, che mi ricorda la contea... E che ogni volta che ci vengo, è come tornare a casa.
