La storia dietro questa foto non è banale. Non stavamo aspettando l'aurora intorno al fuoco e l'abbiamo semplicemente fotografata. Bensì eravamo sulla sponda opposta del lago. Dopo aver fotografato per un paio d'ore l'aurora, stavamo tornando verso il rifugio. Nel pomeriggio avevo detto ai miei compagni di viaggio: "Vi immaginate un'aurora boreale con il fuoco? Non succede...ma se succede!!" Beh, sulla via per il rifugio, all'improvviso il cielo esplode di un verde fosforescente: In un primo momento ho provato a fotografarla lì dov'ero; poi ho pensato alla frase del pomeriggio. Mi sono messo a correre verso il rifugio nel buio della notte e poi ho provato lo scatto. Il cielo è stato cosi per al massimo un 3-4 minuti dal momento in cui è iniziato il tutto.
