L'Himalaya nepalese è davvero uno di quei luoghi che ti fanno viaggiare non solo con il corpo, ma anche con la mente. Sono montagne totalmente diverse dalle nostre europee, sembra che abbiano un'anima propria. Erano due giorni non si vedeva una cima, nulla, ero circondato da nient'altro che nebbia e neve. In uno dei giorni di acclimatamento che ho fatto, arrivato quasi a quota 4000 metri, per un attimo le nuvole e la luce hanno dato spettacolo. Vedere un gigante di quasi 7000 metri, in una condizione del genere, mi ha fatto tornare in mente il Silmarillion, dove si narra di Taniquetil, la montagna più alta di Arda e casa del primo dei Valar, Manwe. Dopo 3 minuti tornò ad essere solo nuvole e neve, e non vidi più nessuna vetta fino al mattino seguente, cosa che scolpì quel momento nella mia mente per sempre.
