Sono riuscito a catturare la cometa C 2023 P1 Nishimura, scoperta appena i primi giorni di agosto. Avevo una sola possibilità di farlo prima che questa sorgesse troppo a ridosso dell'alba e prima che arrivasse al perielio il 17 settembre. Questo è significato passare tutta la notte sveglio e verso le 3:30 a.m., arrivare con Federica sullo spot per preparare con calma il mio setup. Ho passato la maggior parte del tempo a cercare la cometa nella porzione di cielo interessata con il mio tele alla focale minima di 150mm, senza riuscirci. Non era visibile ad occhio nudo come molti volevano far credere. Preso un po' dallo sconforto ho deciso di fare un ultimo tentativo e montare una focale con un angolo di campo maggiore e grazie al mio 105mm macro, sono riuscito a vederla e poi centrarla facilmente con il tele, spingendomi fino ad una focale di 550mm.Appena mi sono sentito soddisfatto delle impostazioni scelte, ho lasciato la fotocamera scattare 120 scatti. Dopo, ho deciso di sfruttare le primi luci dell'alba per fotografare un primo piano da utilizzare per enfatizzare la scena, ma che fosse perfettamente coerente con la posizione di questo fantastico evento.Ho trovato questa bella passerella di un lido nelle vicinanze e ho chiesto a Federica di prendere parte alla scena. La composizione era fantastica!! Il risultato mi piace molto, infatti l'immagine è stata scelta tra quelle candidate ad essere la foto astronomica del giorno (APOD) di un'importante pagina gestita dalla Nasa.È solo la seconda volta che ho la fortuna di avere questo privilegio!
