Qui siamo a Wrocław, in Italia conosciuta come "Breslavia": negli anni '80, quando la Polonia era ancora sotto il dominio dell'Unione Sovietica, l'artista scultore Tomasz Moczek decise di appoggiare il movimento di resistenza "Alternativa Arancione" con un'operazione molto particolare. Disseminò sui muri del centro storico di Wrocław centinaia di graffiti che rappresentavano gnomi sbeffeggianti. Ovviamente i destinatari degli sberleffi erano i potenti del regime. A comunismo finito l'amministrazione cittadina ha pensato bene di trasformare i nanetti in un'operazione di marketing turistico: infatti sono stati realizzati in metallo e disseminati, nei posti e nelle pose più impensabili, in tutta la città.
