Gli abitanti di Belforte (SI) durante la processione della Santa Croce sul luogo del martirio del Beato Bernardino da Falsini, avvenuto presso l'omonimo castello attorno al 1161. Il religioso venne assassinato da ignoti sicari durante il rito della Comunione Eucaristica mentre, stringendo la croce, cercava di fermare il loro criminoso gesto. L'evento e la devozione del popolo di Belforte sono citati da Enea Silvio Piccolomini (salito al soglio pontificio con il nome di Papa Pio II) in una bolla solenne datata 24 marzo 1459. I fedeli si incamminano dalla chiesa detta "di Santa Croce" presente all'interno del borgo di Belforte la mattina prima dell'alba e, attraversando i boschi ed il Torrente Feccia, giungono lungo un ripido sentiero al castello di Falsini.
