Sala tra le più rappresentative del percorso museale di Palazzo Vecchio, uno degli spazi del cosiddetto Quartiere degli Elementi, dove il Granduca Cosimo I ebbe i propri appartamenti privati. È una sala dove, dalle pareti al soffitto, si è permeati dalle allegorie dei quattro elementi, trasposti in sapienti affreschi che sono stati oggetto di un recentissimo restauro per riportarli allo splendore originario. Da ammirare il maestoso camino disegnato dall'Ammannati. Nella decorazione di questa sala si è voluto rappresentare l'origine dei quattro elementi partendo dal riquadro centrale del soffitto, dedicato all'Aria, rappresentazione che continua poi sulle tre pareti senza finestre dedicate all'Acqua, alla Terra e al Fuoco. Lavorarono per la decorazione di questi ambienti principalmente Giorgio Vasari, Cristofano Gherardi e Marco Marchetti da Faenza.Vasari e collaboratori decorarono quasi tutti questi ambienti in soli tre anni lavorando sul programma iconografico di Cosimo Bartoli.
