Il Thomisus onustus è un ragno appartenente alla famiglia dei Thomisidae. La particolarità di questa specie è il mimetismo criptico. Può cambiare colore tra bianco, giallo, rosa e verde, mimetizzandosi con il colore dei fiori e rimanendo immobile su di essi. In questo modo riesce ad eludere i predatori, gli uccelli, e a migliorare le capacità di caccia. Questo ragno non caccia tessendo la tela, ma tende agguati alle sue prede ben nascosto sui fiori ed è capace di catturare animali più grandi di lui, come api, vespe, bombi, farfalle e mosche. In mancanza di prede possono nutrirsi anche con il nettare dei fiori su cui si nascondono. Quando un insetto si posa intorno a lui, il ragno lentamente inizia ad avvicinarsi fino a quando la preda non gli arriva a tiro, poi lo attacca frontalmente con un morso alla testa e blocca ogni tentativo di fuga con le sue lunghe zampe anteriori. Mangiano poi la preda iniettandole degli enzimi digestivi. La femmina, più grande del maschio e di colore chiaro, depone le uova in una sacca e le sorveglia fino al loro sviluppo.
