Perito Moreno, Argentina.

Le forme aguzze della superficie del Glaciar (ghiacciaio) Perito Moreno modellate nei secoli dagli impetuosi venti patagonici. Il ghiacciaio si trova nel Parque Nacional Los Glaciares nel Sud dell'Argentina. Il Perito Moreno si estende per 250 km quadrati e per 30 km in lunghezza, ed è uno dei 48 ghiacciai alimentati dal Campo de Hielo Sur (Campo di Ghiaccio del Sud), facente parte del sistema andino, condiviso con il Cile. Campo de Hielo Sur è la terza riserva planetaria d'acqua dolce dopo le calotte polari. Il ghiacciaio è in continuo movimento, avanzando circa di un metro al giorno nel Lago Argentino. Questo avanzamento è compensato da perdita di iceberg dal fronte, che si staccano in maniera spettacolare dalla massa di ghiaccio e cadendo nel lago emettendo un suono del tutto simile ad un tuono.
