La Erynnis tages, detta anche Tagete, è una farfalla di piccole dimensioni (mm. 12-14), che non presenta spiccato dimorfismo sessuale. Nel maschio si può notare la presenza della piega androconiale costale. Le ali posteriori di colore bruno uniforme hanno una serie marginale di piccole macchie biancastre. Le ali anteriori sono sempre di colore bruno con zone più scure e fasce grigiastre e con una serie marginale di piccoli spazi biancastri. La femmina è pressochè identica al maschio ma priva di piega costale nelle ali anteriori. Il rovescio delle ali è di colore bruno chiaro dorato con disegni poco definiti e una serie marginale di piccoli spazi chiari. Il bruco è di colore verde con testa nera e con una linea scura lungo il dorso. Specie diffusa in tutta Italia, isole escluse, si rinviene nelle pianure e nelle brughiere di tutta l'Europa e dell'Asia temperata; è una specie euricora, si rinviene in prati e radure dalla pianura sino al piano montano fino a circa 2000 metri. mono-bivoltina a seconda dell'altitudine con sfarfallamenti tra aprile e maggio e tra luglio e agosto. Piante nutrici: Lotus corniculatus e uliginosum, Hippocrepis comosa, Coronilla varia.
