at 18mm, 1/400 f/6.3, ISO 100, hand held. Colonnata, Italy.

Colonnaded, nestled among the peaks of the Apuan Alps, it is known all over the world for delicious lard, a poor food with which the most humble workers were once fed.
Circunded by a suggestive frame of marble quarries, partly still active, this ancient center of Marble production has existed since Roman times and seems to have taken its name precisely because the marble extracted here was used to build the columns of the Roman temples.

I ate the lard as a child, my father hung it in a room in the old part of our house. Sprinkled with pepper, I ate it accompanied with homemade bread by my mom in the old wood-burning oven, I can almost remember its goodness.
Ma Il maiale!? Raised by my uncle, he was 'scanned' in the little street, bled to death and screamed for an infinite time. What to say! I'm in the memories, but if I think of that poor pig, it hurts.
Good night dears Loris and congratulations on the nice work you do.

Dear Loris, thank you for always presenting us with proposals from this Italy of Ours to discover.
This place would be to visit; I say it would be because time, commitments and more are never enough or are always too many.
I also ate lard when I was a kid with pepper. Today, unfortunately, much less.
Ma when I can (virus aside) and I go to beautiful Umbria/Assisi, I always stop at these "jewelers" of the palate to taste /eat something unique.
War the photos and with great knowledge the caption.
Thane.
A dear greeting
Franco

The usual, splendid Loris, with its proposals.
Despite the memory of still lukewarm buns stuffed with Colonnata's lard and you, dear Loris, are a ruthless friend because you do not propose a single photo (which would already be enough) but a whole series so as to make me materialize on the PC ancient fragrances, marvel of a food as simple as rich in history and flavor.
I keep my desire (for now).
A dear greeting.
Paolo
