1/500 f/5.0, ISO 80, hand held. Fuerteventura, Spain.

Mi scuso per la qualità della foto, ma è uno scatto del 2012 e all'epoca usavo ancora una compatta, nemmeno delle migliori tra l'altro. Ho provato a resuscitarla ed ero curioso di capire se potesse piacere o meno.

I really like it. Maybe it will make the maniacs of detail and sharpness turn their noses up, but I think that a photo, especially if it is landscape, must be looked at as a whole and not 100% enlarged to find its defects and evaluate its digital noise. This photo of you, like many others, simply proves that a good shot can be done even by non-excellent means.
Ciao

For me, however, this is not a "good" shot.it would have been good if the cyclist was in a leading position to give depth to the image but above all to give a story, a story, a meaning to this image, because that cyclist at the bottom who confuses himself with the guardrail for me a sense of his own does not have it.
Sharpness as you can see, I didn't even worry.
As always absolutely personal opinion you see whether or not to take it into account.
Ciao
Simone

It would have been enough to wait a few seconds and the same photo would have taken on another value. Everything else was ok!

It's a matter of taste. A few seconds later it would be the photo of an anonymous cyclist and it would be a sporty image with a beautiful setting. In my opinion, personal opinion that is worth very little, for heaven's sake, is a beautiful photo to a different landscape from the usual known.

You're right about tastes, stay cmq a nice photo!

Well, Alessandro, in my opinion it is not so much a "matter of taste" if one looks at a photo that the author has titled "The Cyclist" and has to scan it with the magnifying glass to find the cyclist. In this sense the subject indicated by the author in the title does not correspond to the subject of the photo. This is the "weakness" of this image: looking at it I do not understand what prompted the author to take it, nor where he wants to "take" the observer. Let it then be a glimpse of a beautiful essential landscape, it is there, even if I do not catch the link with the road, for example.
I hope these considerations will serve the author.
Ciao, Alberto

First of all I would like to thank all the colors that have spoken and commented on my shot.
I'm in 2012, I barely remember that day, but I'm pretty sure at the time of the shoot I didn't even notice the cyclist, and even if it was I don't know if I would have waited, of course in hindsight I could have brought him closer and it would have been a whole different story, but so is it.
The title let's say it's "provocative," it's a bit like challenging the observer to find cyclist :-D - but I see it didn't work, it's my fault of course.
In the light of your interventions it would have been better a tap of clone /correct and many greetings to our user of the 2 wheels ........... or change title :-P
Thane again, I'm here to learn and that seems to me the right way.

Good shooting point and composition.
The rider's insertion seems random but does not appear sharp and does not play the role of protagonist or co-star given its Lilliputian dimensions.
Deathing a few seconds could become a co-star element especially if inserted at 1/3 of the route giving dynamimism and a sense of silent-single presence.
From improving post production its contours and working on the huge noisy vertical band on the right.
Counctures:
a) never look at the clock, let's take the n/s time calmly
b) after the 1st impulse shot we always develop at least two to three other interpretations

Thank you for your advice, Elleemme, I will certainly take that into account.
For those who are concerned with PP, even if I am not a master I do not know if it could be done much better considering that I started from a JPEG produced by a compact over ten years of 7MP.

We talk about forgotten areas so the answer is yes ... they could be optimized ;-)
always (imho).
For light outputs, however, we can now count on 4/3zi or larger sensor mounted on compact or mirorless that can be considered alternative to those mounted on SLR. It depends a lot on our photographic propensities - genres and our portability needs.

I don't mind. Reading the comments of others I could say that maybe I didn't really want the cyclist. It's a "New Topographics" style photo with a low PDR to increase the sense of immersion and with that camera you could not do much more. There is just on the right a band of artifacts, perhaps from compression, I do not know.

Even here the quality leaves something to be desired but I could undoubtedly have done better in
post. The cyclist is certainly poorly positioned.
