L'Antico Caffè del Moro si trova in Via del Moro all'angolo con Via della Pelliccia, nel Rione Trastevere. Le origini di questo caffè sono sicuramente molto antiche, è difficile chiarire a quando ma - secondo alcune fonti - la sua apertura risalirebbe al 1873. Per quanto erroneamente si può pensare che la Via del Moro prenda il nome da questo caffè, dal momento che a Roma è frequente che strade del centro prendano il nome da insegne di osterie, taverne e locande, in quest'occasione siamo di fronte a un caso esattamente opposto. La strada, infatti, porta questo nome dal XVI Secolo, con tutta probabilità per via dell'insegna di un osteria che qui si trovava, per questa ragione è stato il Caffè, nel 1873, a prendere il nome della strada. Nel 1896, quando l'Italia era impegnata nella guerra con il Regno d'Abissinia, fu affissa la nuova insegna dell'Antico Caffè del Moro, ancora oggi esistente e che costituisce il secondo esempio più antico - dopo il Caffè Greco - di insegna di un caffè. Nell'insegna due bersaglieri ed un marinaio offrono un bicchiere di Fernet Branca ad alcune donne abissine.
