La vettura qui fotografata fu costruita dalla Devin Enterprises e venduta, anche in kit, come altre sue analoghe, negli anni '50 e '60 dello scorso secolo. Fu concepita per le gare… ma anche per l'utilizzo su strada. Su un telaio in tubi d'acciaio… e con una carrozzeria in vetroresina… venivano montati i particolari meccanici… quasi sempre di provenienza Wolksvagen. Della Devin modello D, qui visibile, furono allestite 46 vetture... a partire dal 1958... che potevano essere motorizzate con il classico 4 cilindri boxer raffreddato ad aria della Wolksvagen di 1191 cm3 e sviluppante 36 cavalli oppure… come questa nella fotografia… con il motore modello 616/7 che equipaggiava la Porsche 356B: un 4 cilindri boxer di 1586 cm3 raffreddato ad aria erogante 70 cavalli. Questa Model D è una barchetta in quanto non ha nessun tipo di capote e o protezione per l'equipaggio. La Devin Enterprises fu attiva dal 1955 al 1964 con sede in California. Era stata fondata da Bill Devin (1915 – 2000)… un pilota che aveva gareggiato nel Campionato Americano SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) anche alla guida di vetture Ferrari. A Bill si deve il primo utilizzo di una cinghia di gomma dentata su un motore automobilistico. Alla guida della vettura qui visibile vi è il plurivittorioso Miki Biasion. Massimo “Miki” Biasion, classe 1958, ha vinto due volte il Campionato Mondiale Rally (WRC: World Rally Championship) nel biennio 1988-89 su Lancia Delta Integrale oltre a moltissime altre gare in questa specialità. Poi si è aggiudicato 2 volte il World Truck Championship nel biennio 1998- 99 alla guida di un camion della Iveco. Al suo fianco siede Mario Peserico amministratore delegato di Eberhard Italia e direttore generale di Eberhard&Co in Svizzera... e pure attuale presidente di Indicam... un'associazione per la tutela di alcuni prestigiosi marchi contro la contraffazione. Questa immagine ha solo scopo documentativo in quanto fu scattata quando la luce diurna era già insufficiente... così la ho trasformata in bianco e nero ottenendo un'immagine simile a quelle che apparivano sui quotidiani degli anni '60 dello scorso secolo... proprio quando questa Devin model D poteva essere acquistata nuova.
