Vespa cabro, calabrone, preda apis mellifera. E' il periodo di fioritura autonnale del Hedera Helix, la comune edera. Attorno al cespuglio si perpepisce forte l'odore di varichina. Gli insetti ne vanno matti, farfalle, mosche, sirfidi, coleotteri, vespe, e soprattutto api. L'edera è una pianta mellifera, il cui fiore è bottinato intensamente dalle api. Nella foto ho colto l'attimo in cui una povera ape viene catturata in volo da un calabrone, che appeso ad un fiore di edera, con le potenti mandibole uccide l'ape e se ne nutre.
