Sono particolarmente legato a questo scatto, perchè rappresenta la realizzazione di un sogno, di un'idea che nella mia mente covavo da tempo: quella di fotografare esattamente così come lo vedete, il sorgere del sole sui fori romani. Di questa città si è sempre parlato - fin dalla sua fondazione - con parole di amore e odio. Io penso che non esista nessun altro luogo al mondo con duemila anni di storia così ben conservati, così come non esiste su questa terra, una città che si veste con così tanta elegante magnificenza e disinvoltura nonostante l'incessante susseguirsi di epoche antinomiche tra loro. Roma è la città eterna, la capitale del mondo, il luogo in cui il passato prende vita. Sarò forse ripetitivo, scontato, noioso, ma non posso farci nulla, resterò per sempre sedotto da così tanta meraviglia e bellezza. Per usare le parole di Ovidio: «Ciò ch'è bello al mondo è tutto qui». In foto il Foro Romano con a sinistra il Tempio di Vespasiano, l'arco di Settimio Severo e il Tempio di Saturno. Più a destra lo spiazzo della Basilica Giulia davanti alle tre colonne del Tempio dei Dioscuri e parte del colle di Palatino con sullo sfondo a destra, il Colosseo.
