Sulla china del monte soprastante la frazione di Altoggio in Premia, nella località all'ör, sorgeva un pilone con coll'effigie di Maria SS. Liberatrice. La popolazione di S. Michele, in Premia, nel 1739 faceva voto di erigere al posto del pilone un oratorio pubblico. Posto subito mano ai lavori l'oratorio veniva benedetto il 28 ottobre 1740. E' un artistico lavoro architettonico di stile classico, a forme di croce greca, con tre altari: il maggiore è dedicato alla Natività di M. V. , quello di destra al S. Sepolcro e quello di sinistra a S. Croce. Sotto concessione del Vescovo di Novara in data 21 aprile 1739 l'oratorio è aggregato alla chiesa parrocchiale e denominato Madonna dell'Oro; chiamato dai premiesi "l'oratorio di S'l'ör" (in italiano sull'orlo) eretto dopo che un giorno, alcuni giovani locali stavano pascolando le capre in quei paraggi, quando una grossa frana si staccò dalla montagna e i giovani si rifugiarono davanti alla piccola cappella rimanendo illesi.
