South Georgia, Jason Harbour, Dicembre 2017: elephant seal weaners , animali svezzati, sono in attesa di un improbabile ritorno della madre che li ha abbandonati sulla spiaggia dopo un allattamento di tre settimane.Le mamme sono tornate in mare per recuperare forze e ripristinare la massa adiposa. Gli svezzati rimarranno ancora per ca 30-50 gg in attesa di una ultima poppata. Poi la fame li invierà in mare a caccia di cibo diventando adulti indipendenti. Molti non torneranno vivi alla spiaggia ove sono nati.
