Questo anno siamo tornati in compagnia di un amico,che per la prima volta visitava il Giappone, perciò oltre ad alcuni luoghi non visitati nel precedente viaggio, siamo tornati in alcuni tra i più belli da vedere... Tra questi il Kinkaku-ji,o Tempio del padiglione d'oro...!! Costruita nel 1397 come villa per lo Sh?gun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, fu il terzo sh?gun dello shogunato Ashikaga. Dopo che Yoshimitsu morì nel 1408. Fu suo figlio che convertì l'edificio in un tempio Zen della scuola Rinzai. L'impressionante struttura che si affaccia su un laghetto è stata l'unica del complesso di costruzioni a resistere all'incendio avvenuto durante la Guerra ?nin, una guerra civile che rase al suolo gran parte di Kyoto. Nel 1950 però fu fatta ardere da un monaco fanatico, Hayashi Yoken, il quale tentò in seguito il suicidio. Sopravvissuto, fu condannato a sette anni di prigione, ma ben presto ne uscì grazie a una diagnosi di malattia mentale. L'odierna struttura è una ricostruzione molto fedele risalente al 1955, e fu ristrutturato nel 1987, il tetto fu ricostruito nel 2003. La struttura è circondata da uno stagno, chiamato Ky?ko-chi ( Lago a specchio ) in cui vi vi sono molte isole e pietre che rappresentano la storia della creazione secondo il Buddismo. Sotterranei a parte, l'intero padiglione è ricoperto di foglie d'oro puro . La pagoda, composta di tre piani, ha funzione di shariden e contiene delle reliquie del Buddha. Rimane uno dei luoghi più visitati di Kjoto e di tutto il Giappone.
